WHAT IS AN EDUCATIONAL CONSULTANT?

An educational consultant is a skilled professional who provides counseling to help parents and students choose a school or college that is a good personal match. This match should be one that will foster a particular student's academic and social growth.

Educational consultants counsel and guide parents and students through the selection process of educational programs, based on a student's individual needs and talents.

WHO ARE THESE EDUCATIONAL CONSULTANTS?

These independent educational consultants have more than eight years of exposure to the education system in practice, research, advising, or a combination of each.  They hold at least a university degree at the Masters or Doctorate level in the education discipline or a discipline that is closely related. Most of these consultants hold a Doctor of Philosophy degree and have at least one major publication in the education discipline.

The individuals at the doctorate level have between twelve to fifteen years of higher education training. Their experience at various universities, coupled with their negative and positive experiences associated with entering their initial career field, provides for an invaluable experience that cannot be substituted by a mere visit to a campus or high school.

WHAT SERVICES CAN THEY PROVIDE THE PARENT AND STUDENT?

Educational consultants can provide a parent and student with individual attention, first hand knowledge of hundreds of educational opportunities, and the time to explore all of the options. These options include curriculum, academic major, campus life, cost comparisons between institutions, individual institution's career placement abilities, employment potential, graduate school potential, and student support services. The proper fit between a student and an institution is critical and it can save families thousands of dollars and a student the trauma of a bad experience.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO OBTAIN THIS INFORMATION?

Why is it important to obtain such information?  Few choices have as great an impact on a person's life as the choice of a school, college, or university. Parents and students can find this decision overwhelming as they attempt to evaluate options and make cautious choices.  We assist with evaluating these options in respect to the needs of the student and concerns of parent(s).  All of the work conducted is confidential.  We ask the perceived embarassing questions and ask the tough questions with only the client in mind.

This is why it is important to obtain this information, and why it is important to obtain it through ECN.
