Admiring all living creatures, big or small, and all the beautiful landscapes of this world is such a great thing. Travelling around the world, meeting people, experiencing and submerging myself in different cultures and religions is another challenge for me. And trying to catch some of this moments, events and places trough photography is my goal. |

Photography is my hobby since twenty years. My first pictures where taken with the Voigtlander of my father. As I became more interested I moved to Nikon, the top of photographic equipment at that moment. F601, F801 at first, later F90 and finally a F90x with a range of lenses: from 24mm to 300mm f4, 35-75mm, 80-200mm and the 50,105 and 200mm macro lenses. |
Around 2000 I made a decision to purchase a 500mm and maybe the new F100. At that moment Nikon was showing a rather strange incompatibility with older lenses ( no matrix measuring,....). Canon instead offered a large range of "USM lenses" ,even some with "IS" and compatible with all the body's and flashes at that moment. |
My next move was selling everything from Nikon and buy my first Eos3 with the 100-400mmIS, 17-35mm sigma, 90mm Tamron and the 500mmF4 IS. |
Later, totally satisfied, I bought a second Eos3 and the flashes 550 EX, 220 EX and the 14 EX. The second Eos3 came into my possession just before the D60 became available. What a mistake, I thought that the 6 megapixel reflex would come much later and would be more expensive at the beginning. |

Earlier this year I ordered the D60, and yes I'm very happy. It gives me more than enough resolution for an A3. Another advantage is that the pictures are immediately at disposition. |
And yes my 100-400 mm becomes a 160-640 mm, nice, very nice for nature and sport photography. I know, it's not really an increase but rather a cropping, but for me the pictures are as crispy and sharp as a my scanned slides. On the other hand 160-640 mm is to high for all around travel photography. |
The need for a more 70-200 mm-like lens let me purchase the 28-135 IS ( 45-216 mm-like on D60). Until now I find this lens OK. Maybe a little dark, an inconvenience which can be overcome by using 200Asa (or even 400 Asa) which is my most used setting. |
Another disadvantage (money, again) was that I had to change the 17-35 sigma for a 15-30 sigma since I needed a 24mm lens. |
Macro photography (my first passion in photography) with the D60 is also a great thing and offers more possibilities. |

This is my point of view and I can imagine that some people would disagree, it's a free world (for the most of us). Inconveniences: Yes, no slides, and if I want slides I've to move back to my Eos3. And the D60 AF is slower than my Eos3, but faster than my previous F90x - 80-200 or F90x - 300f4 combo. For the moment I'm very happy with the 10D, faster AF but not so fast as my eos3 ( images will follow..). Nice resolution and noise levels. The little Ixus 400 is also nice to have in a pocket....good resolution , more than enough for A4 print !!! |
