What is EES?

EES stands for the Engineering Education Scheme.  Because it takes a long time to say (and even longer to type!), I will refer to the scheme as simply EES from this point forwards.

The EES is a scheme which is run in the UK every year.

The point in the scheme is to encourage more young people into a career in engineering, by giving them an insight into this career at a relatively young age it allows the students time to decide if this is the career for them.  This is done by teaming a group of students with a local company.  The company will provide the team with a REAL problem that their company has not been able to solve, either because they have not had the time, or because they need fresh ideas on ways to tackle a problem, this is where having an open mind can be incredibly useful!

The students are chosen from the school, usually by a member of staff.  They will be chosen for their ability in the areas that they are likely to be working in (e.g. Electronics, Materials etc.)  If you have been chosen to be on a team for EES, you are very lucky, you will like the scheme and only when you have finished will you realize how much it has actually helped you.  Throughout the course, it may seem like a lot of work, it did to us, but at the end you will recognize just how much you have actually accomplished.

I have inserted a link at the bottom of this page so that you can view our written project which we submitted as part of our finished work.

As well as submitting your written work to the EES, you can also pass it on to Headstart, there is more information on this elsewhere.

If you would still like more info on the Engineering Education Scheme, please visit there site at:

Official Site

This is the official site for the page and it has a mail address so that you can ask any relevant questions which you may have.

We will be at the trade fair later in the month at the metrocentre. Why not come along and see our project?
