Overview

The mobile surveillance was built because we feel there is need for remote video and audio surveillance.  The remote vehicle can be both fully automated and manually controlled.  This gives the user great flexibility and ease of operation. We will also show that if the prototype is mass produced it could be very cost effective by using many common electronic components already in existence. The small scale prototype would also by very easy to transport for shipping purposes. Once operational the system would have very low maintenance and operation budget. The vehicle will work by using a infrared line tracking device will follow a black line that is on the floor.  The line tracking device will send inputs into a microcontroller that will in turn send power to the two drive motors.  The vehicle will also be equipped with a hand held transmitter that can control the movement manually.  A onboard camera and microphone will be attached to a high powered transmitter.

Statement of Problem/Need
There is a need for video and audio surveillance of a large area.
There is also need to send a unit into a area that would be hazardous to humans
There is a need for a user friendly equipment.  Any surveillance crew could be trained how to operate the vehicle in a little as 2 hours.
Very useful in harsh weather conditions.
The vehicle can also operate in total darkness with the use of infrared diodes.
Dual mode vehicle, microcontroller used for automatic control, hand held unit used for manual operation.

Applications
Warehouses
Factories
Storage buildings
Banks
Processing plants
Prisons
