Eeyore's Thots
"I'm not sad, I'm just not very happy."
I have my friends. Someone spoke to me only yesterday."
"It isn't as if there was anything very wonderful about my little corner. Of course for people who like cold, wet, ugly bits it is something rather special."
"Whenever a very bouncy animal arrives in the forest, and you are told that he has just come, the thing you should ask is: 'When is he going?'"
"No give and take. No exchange of thought. It gets you nowhere, particularly if the other person's tail is only just in sight for the second half of the conversation."
"Thanks for notic'n me."
"It's bad enough being miserable, but it is even worse when everyone else claims to be miserable, too."
"Eeyore, the old grey Donkey, stood by the side of the stream and looked at himself in the water. 'Pathetic,' he said. 'That's what it is. Pathetic.' He turned and walked slowly down the stream for twenty yards, splashed across it, and walked slowly back on the other side. Then he looked at himself in the water again.
'As I thought,' he said. 'No better from this side.'"
"After all, what are birthdays? Here today and gone tomorrow."
"It's not much of a tail, but I'm sorta attached to it."
"When trying to rescue friends from a tree, make sure the plan doesn't involve having everybody stand on your back."
"'It's snowing still,' said Eeyore gloomily. 'So it is.' 'And freezing.' 'Is it?' 'Yes,' said Eeyore. 'However,' he said, brightening up a little, 'We haven't had an earthquake lately.'
" "A little consideration, a litle thought for others, makes all the difference. Or so they say."
"We can't all, and some of us don't. That's all there is to it."
"When you shout 'Is anybody at home?' into a rabbit hole, and a voice answers 'No!' it probably means you're not welcome."
And how are you?' said Winnie-the-Pooh. Eeyore shook his head from side to side. 'Not very how,' he said. 'I don't seem to have felt at all how for a long time.'"
"When someone says 'How-do-you-do," just say that you didn't."
"Sitting on thistles doesn't do them any good. Take all the life out of them."
"Remember, nobody minds, nobody cares."
"Having your missing tail recovered is all well and good, but remember that it will have to be reattached. With a hammer and nail."
While referring to his tail ... "Somebody must have taken it," said Eeyore. "How like them," he added after a long silence.
"When your tail is missing, remember that you have every right to mope."
"Suddenly I'm so happy I feel like standing on my head."
"Owl flew past a day or two ago and noticed me. He didn't actually say anything, mind you, but he knew it was me. Very friendly of him, I thought. Encouraging."
"If you ask me, when a house looks like that, it's time to find another one." "That's a very good idea Eeyore," said Christopher Robin. "It may take a day or two but I'll find a new one."
"Nobody tells me. Nobody keeps me informed. I make it seventeen days come Friday since anybody spoke to me."
"Somebody BOUNCED me."
"Pathetic. That's what it is. Pathetic."
"Good morning Pooh Bear. If it is a good morning, which I doubt."
"...They're funny things, accidents. You never have them 'till you're having them."
