Jai, well-swathed in her protective gear, was snug and warm on Deiseath’s back, and quite at ease in the air, if not entirely sanguine about her lifemate’s flight style.  Jade-translucent wings, still unusually long and narrow for her size, kept her lanky frame aloft with unusual dexterity, and the dragon’s flight was full of unexpected swoops and neck-snapping turns.  It was an excellent ability to use during Falls, but a trifle…inconvenient when all she was doing was elevator-duty.
Deiseath dropped daintily onto the ledge, and their somewhat shaken passenger slithered down the green’s side and bid them a polite goodbye.  Jai dipped her head in acknowledgement.  Deiseath yawned.
Once they were in the air again, the unfinished-looking green snorted.  <<I really think that our talents could be put to better use somewhere else, Jai.  I don’t even get to ride sweeps.  I know I can do more than play ‘floating staircase’.>>
Amused, Jai took the bait.  “Like what, my many-talented marvel?”
<<Oh, I don’t know,>> Deiseath said with studied nonchalance.  <<Make little dragons, maybe.>>
The ex-Guardswoman frowned, invisible behind the thin scarf across her nose and mouth.  “”And that’s the point of this entire conversation?  Proddy…oh, my dear, I am not looking forward to this.”
The green pirouetted in midair.  <<Whyever not?  You know I’ll make it as entertaining as possible.  And let’s fly somewhere else, where I can dazzle those poor male minds.  I love my home, but tchah, clutching on the same Sands I hatched at is far too nostalgic and stereotypical for me.>>
With a sigh, Jai settled deeper into her leathers.  “So, my lovely Dei, where do you want to fly?”
<<
Dark Moon Weyr.  They’ve the loveliest markings, and I hear that they put up a good chase.>>
“Is that the same Weyr that had a blue come out of nowhere to win a flight?” Jai asked dubiously.
<<The very same.  Now /that’s/ romantic.  Let’s go tell them that they’re in luck, shall we?>>
Deiseath will take you to her birthplace, Dawn Sisters Weyr
