Our Honeymoon

After our glorious wedding, Noga and I  spent ten days in Belize, Central America for our honeymoon. The first four days were spent at Windy Hill Resort, in the Cayo district in western Belize. Ramon, our driver, stopped at the Belize Zoo on the way to the resort. The resort itself is just up the hill from the town of San Ignacio. We took a full-day tour of the Mayan ruins of Tikal, in Guatemala, the second day we were there. Then we went canoeing through a cave, horseback riding, to a Mayan pottery cave, and visited Xunantunich. From Windy Hill, we drove back east to Belize City to catch a small plane to Ambergris Caye. We spent four days at Captain Morgan's retreat, north of the town of San Pedro - and separate from most of everything else on the island. There, we went snorkeling at a marine preserve, swimming with stingrays and nurse sharks, took a full-day fishing trip, and went diving, of course. We then flew back to the mainland to stay just north of Belize City at a resort called Maruba Jungle Spa & Resort. Here we relaxed with massages, mud packs, and even a pedicure. Then it was back to Amherst, MA to unpack and do laundry..
