The numerous Catholic churches are very interesting to visit, but all seem to have a preoccupation woith blood and suffering.

One of the surprises in Santiago was the free 1/2-hour concert of classical and popular music performed by members of the army orchestra during the "changing of the guard" outside the national palace..

Another was the fabulous markets with fresh fish and produce at  a very reasonable price and manned by friendly courteous merchants.
