GRAND CANYON RAILWAY - PAGE 1
The Grand Canyon Railway Locomotive Shop in Williams.  Engine #18 has just been backed in after a 130 mile round trip.  #29 is undergoing a major 3 year rebuild.

Both engines are former Lake Superior and Ishpeming 2-8-0 Consolidations.  #18 was the first steamer to run when the line opened in 1989, #29 began service in 1990.

Yes, Williams gets snow during the winter months!  Train #3, the Northbound 'William's Flyer' is getting ready to depart.

Engine #6793 is an ALCO FPA-4, built in 1959.

One of the unusual aspects of this operation is the amount of visiting eqipment.  Here is a 7 car train of the American Association of Passenger Rail Car Owners.  The train, operated by Amtrak, was enroute to their annual convention, and took a sidetrip to the canyon.  All the cars are privately owned.

A gentleman from Tennessee was onboard, and we did a 'private' photo shoot about 12:30 am.

The most common visitor to our line is the American Orient Express.  It shows up about 12 times a year.  As with all Amtrak specials going to the Grand Canyon, we provide our own crews to operate the train while it is on the property.

Here the train is Southbound at Williha.  The lake is really a cattle tank, and only rairly has this much water.

My normal nitely duties.  A six car train is being serviced at the 'dump station' under a full moon.
