Pahrump weather |
Frontsight is located in the high desert near Pahrump, Nevada. Winter weather is cold in the morning and warm in the afternoon; Weather the rest of the year is cool to warm in the morning and hot to very hot in the afternoon. Loose fitting pants and sturdy footwear are recommended, while hats, sunscreen and sunglasses are required. The four day handgun course requires a garment such as a shirt or light jacket to practice presentation from concealed carry. If you are taking any of the four day courses you will want knee pads and, perhaps, elbow pads for prone and kneeling shooting exercises. |

Food |
At present, there are no food concesssions on the site, so plan to bring a bag lunch. Frontsight provides all the water and gatorade you can drink. There is a microwave in the classroom, although the "blazing sun on dashboard" heating method works very well on frozen burritos. On one night of the four day courses you will need to bring dinner as well, since low/no light shooting runs several hours after dusk. |

Shotgun equipment |
Shotgun students will need a sling for safe carry. Although trouser or vest pockets will suffice, belt mounted or weapon mounted ammunition carriers are recommended. Belt mounted shell carriers such as the Blade Tech shell pouch have the advantage of keeping weapon weight down while weapon mounted carriers keep shells closer to the loading port. Four day students will need a Surefire (or similar) flashlight or forearm mounted light. |
