Eibu kan Goju-Ryu Karate is a relatively young organization; however, its roots run deep with Japanese Karate. The group was started in a small Social Hall within the East San Gabriel Valley Japanese Community Center in the 1960's and was official founded as Eibu kan Goju-Ryu Karate in 1983 by Sensei Masato Sakaue and Sensei Takafumi Hamabata. Eibu kan is currently under the guidance of 8th Dan Hanshi, Shihan, Yoshihiro Hisanaga, who has studied with some of the most famous senseis in Okinawa and Japan, notably Dai Sensei Juhatsu Kiyoda. Dai Sensei Kiyoda, who was one of Kanryo Higaonna's (the founder credited with creation of Okinawa-Te) senior students, was also senior to his even more famous junior, Dai Sensei Chojun Miyagi, the founder of Goju Ryu Karate. Eibu kan Goju-Ryu Karate's lineage has a unique blend of Goju-Ryu Karate here in the United States as their top instructors can follow their lineages to very prominent figures such as Gogen Yamaguchi, who founded the Japan Karatedo Federation Gojukai; and Seikichi Toguchi, the founder of Shorei kan. Eibu kan Goju-Ryu Karate is a member of: Japan Karatedo Federation Goju-kai Japan Karatedo Federation Goju-Ryu Association USA Japan Karatedo Federation Goju-Ryu Association California |
