PTSA Welcome
Welcome
"Aang"
to an exciting year at Ben Eielson Junior/Senior High School and its PTSA!
Staying involved and informed with your teenager’s school is very important to
your teen’s success. Although your teen may not want you at school, you have
a right to be here and the school needs you here as well! We need parents to
check homework, attend parent teacher conferences and volunteer on special events, otherwise many activities will have to be cancelled.
There are many ways to
help at the school but the most exciting is the opportunity to help teens be
involved in an activity by offering programs that get students engaged at Ben
Eielson. Please be a part of our endeavor to enhance the education that our
students receive at Ben Eielson by sharing your time with us.
Our
PTSA Team brings a wealth of experience and very big hearts. Our volunteers give
so much of themselves for all our teens. Still, we need and welcome whatever
help you can give. No amount is too small! Some great (and fun)
opportunities to serve are:
~
Parents in the School Day. You are welcome to attend as many classes as
you would
like with your teen.
~
Provide Educational Supplements i.e. Spelling Bee, Science Fair, Geography Bee
~ Offer volunteers a connection with the faculty and staff during Appreciation Events.
~ Host the Reflections Art Program
~ Award a $500.00 Senior Scholarship to a graduating Ben Eielson Senior
~ Drop a quick e-mail to legislators concerning education issues
~
PTSA Web site provides a wealth of
information, from daily announcements to
volunteer opportunities for
students and parents with direct links to other
important sites.
in the
education of their teen.
In order to accomplish
all that the PTSA has to offer, we need your continual support. I
would like to extend a personal invitation to you to become a member of the PTSA.
Your membership in the association will help accomplish our goals. By becoming a member of the Eielson PTSA, you will not only be
supporting your teenager’s school but also the largest child advocacy group in
the world through the National PTA. Being part of PTSA, doesn't require you be a stay at home mom
or dad, many of our board members are not. If you have a few minutes now and
then to help make, plan, assist, or provide items, PTSA has a job for you. There are many opportunities to lend your time and support to the
school and PTSA. We are always looking for volunteers with new ideas!
Again, a warm
welcome to our wonderful new students (and their families)! "We're glad you're
here!" And to our returning Lynx and Ravens (and their families!), "Welcome
back!" Should you have questions
regarding Ben Eielson PTSA, feel free to contact us.
