Dedicated to: My best friend Ashley, whom I've been friends with since I was 9, before she moved 4 states away. I wrote it so she would know how much she means to me and so she will always remember me, even if we don't get to talk as much as we used to.

A best friend is family ,

Your dearest diary ,

The one you share your best memories with ,

The one you told about your first kiss ,

The one you take your broken heart to,

The one who makes it feel brand new ,

The one you just can’t help but fight ,

Even when you know they’re right ,

The one you think about all through dawn,

The one you can never turn your back on,

The one you follow into trouble,

And lead into success,

The one you keep close by your heart ,

The one you turn to for advice,

The one who gives it to you straight ,

They’re the one who makes you whole,

The wings to match you halo.

They rank above any lover,

Because that love can come and go.

Some consider a soul mate to be no more then a peer,

Though sometimes things aren’t always as they appear,

Best friends can be, is what I say,

They share your soul in the purest way.

You always have a shadow ,

They are a reflection of your soul,

And Ashley if I ever lost you,

My shadow too, would also go.

You’re my best friend baby girl,

I only wish the best for you,

I want you to always know ,

That no matter where time takes us,

No matter how much we change ,

I will always be here for you .
