About Eternal Jam

Eternal Jam is the ultimate independent music magazine dedicated to Rock/Metal music.
This site includes many of the features that are in each issue. The magazine used to come out every 2 months, but since I started college full-time in Sept 2000, the issues started coming out much less frequently. The last one was at the end of 2000. I haven't given up on it all together. It's just hard to find the time to get an issue out. Once I get my degree (Dec), we'll figure out where we are going from there. Eternal Jam has been going strong for 6 years and I'd like to continue.
The whole point of the magazine was to spread the word on the "lesser known" bands and those bands that aren't being covered in major magazines right now. I'm still very dedicated to doing so, but am focusing more on the website for now.
Eternal Jam, the ultimate independent music magazine, is not gone...but on a temporary hiatus.
Most of our news is gathered by Rob Piecuch. We also are constantly receiving press releases and correspond with many band members, mgmt and promoters. We try to keep things as accurate as possible, but the internet is full or rumors and gossip. Please keep that in mind when reading.
Eternal Jam focuses on Rock/Metal music but we cover a wide variety of bands. Before starting this, I never realized just how many great "lesser-known" bands were out there. Over the years we have really discovered some great bands and watched many of them grow and get more popular. Please be sure to check out our "Shining Stars" column, and our CD reviews. You many find a great band that peaks your interest.
Reviews are done by Lori Powers and Kevin Brown. We have a few new reviewers working on the CDs...and all the CDs that were sent in will be reviewed and up on the site very soon. The site was redesigned in March and is constantly being updated. After the redesigning is done, news, reviews, etc. will be updated very often. Check back soon to see all we have to offer.
Hope you enjoy your visit and if you have any ideas on how we can improve the site or what you would like to see here, just drop us a line.

Here are a few quotes from some of the musicians (and people who work in the music biz) that read the magazine...

Q: What do you think makes Eternal Jam different from other fanzines?
Rob Mason (Thundercore): E.J. differs from other fanzines on a couple of levels. Your focus is on keeping the metal genre alive, keeping readers informed on where their favorite bands/artists have gone and/or what they are up to, and providing unsigned bands an opportunity to get some decent press easily.
Paul Unger (editor of Noisy Fans Of America): Lots of info that other ‘zines won’t bother with.

Q: How would you describe your experience working with us?
Rob: Working with E.J. has proved to be overwhelmingly easy. Thanx Lori!
Paul: Excellent!!! I’m very grateful to EJ for printing my articles & interviews.

Q: What do you like best about Eternal Jam?
Anne Leighton (publicist): That it covers all styles of rock and roll, not just hard rock. That it gives attention to new artists.
Debbie Sellnow (Mazur PR): I really like the amount of news covered in Eternal Jam. You are very thorough.
Paul Shortino: I like that you get personal with the artists and how you keep an update with the artist. Thanks.
Johnny Crypt: (The Vow): It’s written by a fan of music for fans of music and the musicians. and the editor’s cute.
Steve W: I can always find out what all my friends in other bands are up to. Eternal Jam knows what every ‘’so-called’’ ‘80’s band is up to. Shit, I even find out stuff about our band that I don’t even know about

The following is from Johnny Crypt of L.A. Guns:
I just got the new EJ and I like the half page book format way better.. I know it's just a temp thing but it looks cool. You always have a lot of stuff on us in the mag and I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate it. Thank you very much my dear.. also a pic of me in this issue. WOOHOOO....ok i'd better be going. Hope your holiday was great. I'll talk to you later.

This was taken from the Sedona mailing list and was written by Ray Fox: "Yahoo! I just got the latest edition of Eternal Jam in the mail today, and have already read it cover to cover. And damn, the Sedona coverage in this issue was most excellent! Publisher/Editor Lori Powers went so far as to award Sedona highest honors for Best Album of 1998. And no, we weren't up against St. Mel's 3rd Grade Boy's Choir. Also on the list were Kiss'"Psycho Circus", Metallica's "Reload", Hole's "Celebrity Skin", Lenny Kravitz's "5", and Gary Hoey's "Hocus Pocus Live", just to name a few. No cheesy honor here, lemme tell ya. For those of you not yet cool enough to actually subscribe to Eternal Jam, I'll quote a piece of one of Lori's articles: 'Dragonfly came to me just in time to be my top CD pick of 1998. It is an enhanced CD full of goodies. This was the release I was anticipating the most. It took a while to get it perfect, but the boys have done a super job. They puttheir hearts and souls into this release and it shows. I've got to say that I'm so prould of the band. It's like when someone close to you does something really good. You want the world to notice. The Sedona-extended family is a friendly, special one that I'm proud to be a part of. It feels good! It's a close-kint group of wonderful people brought together by this great band. A group that really wants the band to succeed. A wise group that knows great music when they hear it... waiting for the day when the rest of the world catches on. But enough about that. It's an excellent CD that everyone should own.'
Wow, thankyouverymuch. Here's a dollar. There's even a reposting of the Sedona Gig Update I sent out that mentioned the police showing up at my door on New Year's Eve Eve. Oh! And the Sedona Fan Club page has now been announced to the world in E.J. Even if you weren't a Sedona fan, (which you are, damnit!) Eternal Jam is a very cool resource for rock 'n' roll news. There are tonz of tidbits featuring your favorite bands (Def Leppard's new album due in April! Stone Temple Pilots are recording a new album! Aerosmith receives 5 Grammy nominations! Etc.) And the fact that it's the result of the blood sweat and tears of Sedona Sista Lori makes it doubly worth subscribing to! If you wanna subscribe to this ultra cool 'zine, send a check or money order (made payable to Lori Powers) to Eternal Jam, c/o Lori Powers, 602 Jordan Ave., Romeoville, IL 60446. Three months is only $4, six months is only $7, and one glorious year of Eternal Jam is only $13. You blew more than that at Taco Bell last week, and what do you have to show for it? (Don't answer that.)
And subscribe quick! Dragonfly is gonna be reviewed in the very next issue!
