There is no direct flight from Bangkok to Pattaya, but Bangkok Airways has daily flights from Bangkok to Samui and one flight each day from Samui to Utapao airport, which is 40 minutes by bus from Pattaya

By Bus

Forty seat air-conditioned buses depart for Chonburi City and Pattaya from the Eastern Bus Terminal (Ekamai), Sukhumvit Road, every 40 minutes from 5.00 am until 9.00 pm for Chonburi and until 11.00 pm for Pattaya. Return trips leave Chonburi for Bangkok every 40 minuites from 5.30 am to 5.30 pm and Pattaya to Bangkok from 5.30 am to 21.00 pm. It takes about one and a half hours for Bangkok - Chonburi and takes one hour more to get to Pattaya, if traffic is not terrible on Sukhumvit Road.

Air-conditioned buses standard 2 (orange) leave Ekamai for Chonburi every 20 mimutes from 5.45 am until 8.00 pm and depart Chonburi bus station from 5.00 am to 7.30 pm. Ekamai-Pattaya buses leave Ekamai bus station every 40 minutes from 5.20 am to 8.20 pm and depart from the Pattaya bus stand from 3.50 am to 5.50 pm.

Regular (not air conditioned) buses leave Ekamai every 20 minutes from 5.30 am until 8.00 pm and depart Chonburi bus station from 4.30 am until 6.40 pm. It costs about half as much and takes about an hour longer. Eastern Bus Terminal Tel +66 2 391 2504

A number of travel agencies and Pattaya resort hotels offer bus or minibus service several times daily from downtown Bangkok, Khao San Road, or Don Muang International Airport, to Pattaya, at fares ranging from 150 to 500 baht.

By Train

Daily service from Bangkok leaves from Hua Lamphong station at 6.55 am and takes about 3 and a half hours to arrive in the heart of Pattaya. The return trip departs Pattaya at 1:47 p.m. Hua Lamphong station Tel +66 2 223 7010, 223-7020

By Car

It takes about 2 and a half hours to drive to Pattaya on the Sukhumvit Highway via Bang Pakong, Chonburi and Sriracha. And one can also avoid Chonburi by opting for State Highway 36 (new route - Chonburi - Pattaya - Rayong). The motorway is more convenient and has speed limits of up to 120 kilometers per hour.
