~Born Feb. 12. 1978, therefore an
   Aquarius

A citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and a permanent resident of a town named Zivinice, near a bigger city called Tuzla.  You have no idea what I am talking about unless you were actually there…

Started educating myself when I was 6.5 at an Elementary School called “Midhat Hacam Acim” (try pronouncing that!).

After exactly 8 years, I finish elementary school with “exemplary” achievement... yeah, I was a “streber”—this word means the same in Bosnian and German!

1992 —
decided I wanted to  be a nurse, so I start Medical High School, Tuzla.  Same time, the war starts in Bosnia and I get the best “hands-on experience” with war wounds…

1996 —
Jan, a semester short of finishing High School, I quit school and start working for American Peacekeeping Forces in Bosnia as an Interpreter.  My Profs in High School thought I was crazy, but we (my family) needed money after the war and that was the “priority.”
1996 – November, I finish High School!  Hurray!  I had 15 exams in 4 days!  And again I finished with “distinction”, because I studied like crazy WHILE working 12hrs/7days/week.  I don’t know if I could do that now.

1996 –
July 1997 I am an interpreter, nurse, safety council secretary for Brown and Root—yup! I was important back then…

August 1997—
I start my university education at Northern Arizona University and with the Jacks! The town is called Flagstaff and is the cutest little town in Northern Arizona.  Downtown Flag, looks like San Fran and Europe—it’s was love at first sight.  I MISS IT, I LOVE IT, AND I WILL DEFINITELY VISIT IT AGAIN!  Since this is an important event, I wrote more about it HERE

August 1997—I have my culture shock, language shock and finally roommate shock.  My first r-mate was Brenda from Minnesota—blond, a sorority girl, and driving a hot red brand new Ford Mustang—now, I was not ready to take ALL THAT my first semester; luckily, she moved to Mountain View Dormitory (reserved only for the Frats and Sororities).

September 1997 –
I meet Mizzzz Ariella (A), who  remains to be my BEST friend to this point :O) The same time I met Joe, also an Aquarius, a precious friend and a big DANZIG FAN :O)
February 1998—My second roommate: Susan from California, a great outdoorsy and cheerful little thing:O)  We do a trip together to Las Vegas and we see SANTANA at the Hard Rock Hotel and the JOINT!

March 1998 –
Spring Break we go to LA and DisneylandJ   Of course, I am having the time of my life!

April 1998--
My first Grand Canyon Hike to Havasupai Falls with Ariella, Susan and Gen, and I meet Rob, Max, Nikki, and Co.  Some photos are right HERE

1998 –
The same time I am working at NAU Dining Services—yes, I started from scratch again, making pizzas and coffee (Starbuck’s) for the hungry and thirsty students!  And boy, was I generous—my PIZZAS WERE LOADED WITH CHEESE:O)

Summer 1998 –
I go home! And end up going to the Adriatic coast, Island Brac with my Bosnian friends—Raske, Adi, Gordan, Ivana, Nerka, Almir, and Co.

1999 –
March Spring Break, A and I go to San Fran and explore the Al Capone Residence—Alcatraz!  I fell in love with the city right away.

April 1999 –
I attend a Model of United Nations Conference (it ain’t the real thing, but simulated as if it were for students to practice) in San Francisco.  I have an anecdote about that trip--Sarah and I "lost" our rented car and it took us a whole day to find it--by then we were freaking! out!

April 1999 – My second hike to West Clear Creek, Arizona with Ariella and NAU Outdoors.

May to July 1999 –
I do a Summer Abroad in Regensburg, Germany with bunch of students from ASU (Arizona State), NAU, and U of A.  We drink and go out dancing a lot—great group: Paul, Kim, Allison, Shane, Stephany, Jeff, Colorado Pete, Peter, Scott, Amanda, Davy, Eric, Casey, Sam—did I forget someone?

1999 September – I start working at the Science and Mathematics Learning     Center of NAU—yeah, got rid of Dining Services!  Greetings to Jackie, Becky, Brownie, Joëlle, Barbara, Mindy, Lisa and Ahna!

January 2000 – My next employment is International Office at NAU as a Student Worker. I liked the SMLearning Center, but I knew that dealing with International Students and Study Abroad would be more exciting.  And I meet great people: Marilyn, Lin, Michelle, Jenn, JenV, Diana, Kathy, Joan, Ruth, Karen, Matt, Daniel, Sarah, Shaya, Scott, and Nick, who was my Prof. and Advisor of German Studies since 1998 and now remains to be a precious and exceptional friend—HI NICK!

February 2000 – Awarded a Vera Laski German Studies Scholarship  for one year of study in Germany!    It was a great moment in my life...:O)

April 2000 -- Arches Hike with NAU outdoors! Great time:O)  Some PHOTOS right HERE.

May 2000
--My brother Seiko comes to visit me in Flag.  We traveled to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Grand Canyon.  When he went back home he was more tired than before, but I think he liked it:O)  Pictures from that trip--yet to come:O)
