In a survey released last year, Costco averaged nearly 20 cents less than competitors at the pump, according to GasBuddy, an app that helps consumers find the cheapest gas. At that rate, a car with a 12-gallon tank would save about $2.38 per fill-up. Members who get gas at Costco every other week would break even on the membership fee.
