"We Finally Meet": Shoujo Kakumei Utena
Also known as Revolutionary Girl Utena and La Fillette Revolutionaire.

Yeeha, I've finally converted all of those pesky .art file to .jpg's! Now everyone on Netscape and every other server can see my page! Zoi! ^_^

Updates:
(June 12, 2003) It would probably be the polite thing to do to let people know that I don't imagine I will update this page any time in the foreseeable future. That doesn't mean I've lost interest - anything but - however, I've become a lot more interested in writing my own characters instead of somebody else's, and it follows that I haven't written fanfiction in about two years now. Utena is still my favorite just-about-anything, but I no longer really have the initiative to exhibit that love in any way other than making backgrounds and drawing things. So.

About the Adolescence Apocalypse page. Since the Utena movie is now readily available to people in America, I no longer really feel that I need to have a page explaining it to those who can't get hold of a copy. My original review was obviously not satisfactory to many people, as well as myself, since I had only seen it once when I wrote it and was still under the influence of the shock that went with it O_o My feelings about the movie are thus: It is beautiful. The music in it has become arguably my favorite Utena music. I don't like the characterizations and the changes that were made to the plot of the series, but that doesn't change how absolutely gorgeous it is. Dispite the better animation and the sweeping music, though, the series will always be the Real Utena to me.

Thank you for all your support and e-mail over the years ^_^ I've been made incredibly happy that I could help people understand Utena, or at least amuse them. This doesn't definitively mean I won't update anymore... who knows what insane ideas might come into my head? But for now, anyway, I would be deceitful if I led everyone to believe there were pending updates. Thank you all again ^_^

~Katie

(January 4, 2003) Wow... it's been a while since I updated here. Anyway, I've cancelled my Geocities service so I no longer have a ton of space (I wasn't using it and I didn't want to pay for it) so www.murasakibara.net no longer exists. The address of this page is as it was before: www.oocities.org/elaby_moon/utena.html. Thanks for coming to see my page, everyone ^_^ This doesn't mean I won't update anymore... I just don't have any plans at the moment for anything new.

(September 02) Hey, I'm not dead. I guess this is what happens when you start focusing on your own characters instead of someone else's O.o I really haven't lost interest in Utena, believe me! I just have a lot of stuff to do and no interesting ideas for this page -_- But anyway, I'm showing one of my very good friends the series (we've gotten up to Keiko's duel in the Black Rose Saga) so I've still always got Utena on the brain ^_^ Anyway, this update is to say that I've taken down my Adolescence of Utena page. It seems all I ever get in regards to my web page is e-mails about how wrong I was when I reviewed the movie and how all my scenes are out of order and how I don't understand anything. I wrote the review after watching the movie only once, and it was the fansubbed version so I didn't have the privelage of seeing the director's notes. Being a college student, I don't have the money to spend on another version something I already own, but I swear I'll find a place I can rent it so I can finally get Ikuhara's input on it! ^_^ Anyway, thank you to everyone who's written, and I'm taking the page down until I can properly rework it. I was in a state of shock when I saw the thing, having heard very few spoilers and not knowing I was seeing something totally apart from the television series, and the more I watch it the more I can appreciate it for its beautiful animation and superb music. However, I still greatly dislike almost all of the character changes. Anyway, that's it. I'm not dead, I'm not ^_^

Oh, yeah, one more thing! I got an award O.o I'll put it here, because I'm lazy ^_^ Thank you so much!

(January 23) Look, it's a real live update! I've received that essay I was talking about before, the one my friend wrote and asked me to put up because his own page got taken down. The jerks, it was a really great page, too... and it's a really great essay! On the subject of feminism in Utena. Ben's writing is brilliant, and I'm honored to have his stuff on my page. It's under the Fanfic section, now titled Fanfic and Essays ^_^ Go read it! It rocks! Also, another empty promise from me... I'll be doing my Utena movie page over eventually, since when I wrote it I'd only seen it a few times and I've had numerous people point out things I've gotten wrong. One of these days I'm going to fix it and make it accurate ^_^

(January 15) I've put up the picture I mentioned I was going to draw for my Songs and Poems page. After I drew it I found out that the lyrics were nothing like I thought they were, so I had to write my own... thing O_o It's not exactly poetry, just maybe writing in a poetry mold. Anyway, they're on a separate page on my Poems and Songs page! ^_^ I also changed this font color, because it was starting to hurt my eyes -_-

(January 9) Eeee! *headache* I'm not dead! Really! Uh, not much of an update this time, I just changed a bit of that introduction you'll find below because it was horribly outdated. I also updated the honorifics, because... well, I just didn't like the way I'd written it before ^^;; And I thought I ought to remind everyone that I'm still in existence, and I still... do stuff >_< Right now I'm trying (key word there) to get my Gundam Wing page into decent enough condition to upload, but I won't until I get off my butt and do all of the character analyses. Speaking of which, I am going to be redoing the character analyses on this page like I said I would. They'll probably, for the most part, be only substatial changes on the characters I like ^^;; So, maybe they'll turn into sort of mini-shrines. I dunno. But you can be sure that Anthy, Saionji, and Akio will at least be getting better pages, and probably Utena and Juri and Mikage as well. And I have another song for my Songs and Poems page thingie, I just have to draw the picture to go with it... @_@

Also, my old updates have been moved to my update page.

Welcome to my Shoujo Kakumei Utena page! This show has been my ongoing obsession for years now, ever since I saw the entire thing fansubbed. And it was indescribably awesome. This page contains some sort-of spoilers, mostly stuff that happens to the characters and things a person who hasn't seen much of the series may not know, but nothing really drastic. I'll create a separate page for the drastic stuff ;) This show brings out my strange side (even more than it is already) but it's not terribly hentai or anything. I'd say it's got a bit of... em... innuendo, so if you don't like that, my apologies :) I'm always updating, even if they aren't very interesting updates -_- and I will never tire of this show, so keep coming back! Please? ^_^

Pretty...
This is from the opening animation sequence, arguably the awesomest part of the whole show.

The Characters
Look, it's honorifics. I use them in my fanfic
and in the character pages, and besides, they're loads of fun. Chances
are you know what most of them mean, but I'm going to put a little key
here because we all have to learn somehow, don't we?
-sama: Very, very high respect. I hear it's not used much in normal Japanese
society except toward the Emperor, but it's all the hell over anime. Anthy always
refers to Utena as Utena-sama, until one very specific instance ^_^ and that's
what she uses to talk to her other Champions, too. It also can be used facetiously.

-san: The generic honorific, this is the onee you're expected to use towards
your equals (i.e. it's polite). It connotates respect but maybe not the closest
of relationships.

-kun: This one is slightly more familiar thaan -san, but also connontates a
working relationship. It's usually used toward people who you are closer to
or who are inferior to you, such as an underclassman. It is also used more toward
males than females, even though I think all students are called this by their
teachers. Touga calls Utena "Tenjou-kun" because she acts like a boy... or at
least that's how I interpret it ^_^

-chan: This means that the speaker is very cclose to the addressee... or
making fun of them. It is used toward a close female friend (if you are female) or
a boyfriend or girlfriend. It is also used toward children since"chan"
connotates "little."

-senpai/sempai: This title is used toward uppperclassmen, elders, and soforth.
It connotates a due amount of respect for those higher than you. Someone would use
this to a person either in a higher grade or someone who had just been whereever
they are (a company or whatever) for longer than the speaker.

Other Stuff

Utena Fanfiction and Essays
This is where the Utena fanfic and essays are. I've got a bunch of fics so far, both humorous and serious. I think I like the serious one better ;) I also have some great pieces of work that people sent to me (domo arigatou!)

Links!
Go here to see my collection of links! There aren't many, but the ones that are there are good ones.

The Essential Disclaimer
I decided to put my disclaimer on a whole page, because, well, there's more stuff than I can fit at the bottom of the page and still have it look decent ;)

Adoptions and Groups
Go here to see my Utena-related adoptions, awards, and groups I'm in!

Poems and the like
This is where I have some pictures from the series and poems to go with them. Some are my own and some I've taken from songs and literature.

Fan Art
My Utena fanart. All stuff I've drawn and most colored, with either Prismacolors, tempera paints, or watercolors. Also, the fanart of other people who have sent me stuff!

Adolescence of Utena Down! To be put back up as soon as I can redo it ^_^
I (try to) explain the Utena movie. You know how the show is amazingly, wonderfully, spectacularly weird? Well, the movie is weirder. But not good weird, frighteningly weird. Gives-me-nightmares-about-Akio-falling-out-of-windows weird. I anticipated seeing this movie for months, and when I got it... well. Anyway, seeing as I'm going to go over every messed-up aspect of the movie on this page, it has tons of spoilers, so if you haven't seen the movie and don't want to know what happens, I'd suggest that you didn't go here ;)

Who the hell is this nutcase, anyway?
About me, the creator of this page. I can just feel your enthusiasm.

Satan Drives a Red Convertible
I've finally gotten around to making my famous Weird Stuff page. Here, I'll attempt to explain the end of the show and just what the whole freakin' thing meant. Beware, spoilers abound. So if you haven't seen the whole thing and you don't want to be spoiled, don't go to this page ^_^

Click here to return to my homepage, where the rest of my anime stuff is.

Oh yeah, I forgot! Click here to e-mail me! To tell me if you like my page, or if you think it's dumb, or just to talk about SKU, or Saionji *drools*, other strange, random things! You can even e-mail me to talk about things that aren't strange and random! Please? Pretty please with shaved ice and a Chu Chu on top? *blinks* Hmm... I think I've been online for too long tonight...

Here's a banner if you ever want to link to my page! ... Please?

And another one! Smaller this time.

Because I think this sort of stuff is great, and it really needs support. And I'm not afraid to show mine ^_^
