claypig@primenet.com y LB17 email Mike Ross anti-religon letter on Fire Walking in Arizona Republic while i have tape recorded paul putz saying that government officals and newspapers dont even read mail from mike ross but toss it in the waste basket with out reading it because of spelling errors.

pauls putz's statement is probably more paul wanting to insult mike ross then anything to do with fact.

here is a letter to the editor written by mike ross and published in the friday jan 21, 2000 issue of the arizona republic.

On Saturday, Jan 8, 2000 the Arizona Republic wrote an article in the Religion Section saying that fire walking can be done because of faith, spritual exercises, and meditation.

mike ross wrote the republic a letter to the editor saying that their article was a bunch of bs and that the laws of physics were responsible for people being able to fire walk not faith, meditation, or spirts.

this is the letter they published on friday jan 21, 2000 after editing it.

Fire walk is simple physics

An article in the Religion Section ("Walking the fire walk: A test of faith" Jan 8) suggests that fire walking can be done because of faith, spritual exercises, and meditation.

Thats not true. Fire walking across hot wooden coals is possible because of the laws of physics. Not because of faith, spritual exercises, or meditation. Anybody can fire walk on hot coals. The physics is that wooden coals are very poor conducters of heat. When walked on the coals transfer the heat very slowly and if you walk quicky your feet wont be burned.

Regardless of how much faith, spritual exercises, or meditation you have don't try walking across a hot metal grill. Your feet will be burned just like a hamburger because the metal tranfers the heat very quickly to you feet.

this is the letter mike ross wrote them. notice they removed 4 paragraphs in italics where mike conpares chocolate chip cookies to the hot wooden coals used in fire walking.

"Walking the fire walk: A test of faith" - nope any smuck can do it Dear Editor:

Saturdays, Jan 8 article in the Religion Section on page E10 "Walking the fire walk: A test of faith" suggests that fire walking can be done because of faith, spritual exercises, and meditation.

A good real world example is in the kitchen after you have baked some chocolate chip cookies in the oven on a metal pan.

The cookies and metal pan are both at the same tempature when removed from the oven.

You can touch the cookies and even eat them with out getting burned as most of us have done. Again because the cookie dough is a very poor conductor of heat, just like wooden coals.

On the other hand the metal pan which is at the same tempature as the cookies is a very good conductor of heat and if you touch it you will get a nasty burn. again because metal is a good conductor of heat and transfers the heat very quickly to your skin.

But regardless of how much faith, spritual exercises, or meditation you have don't try walking across a hot metal grill. Your feet will be burnt just like a hamburger because the metal tranfers the heat very quickly to you feet.
