Anubias barteri var. nana is a small, attractive plant which thrives in all conditions. It's leaves are a dark green color. It grows slowly, and the leaves survive for several years, which gives slow growing algae the chance to become established. You might get a new leaf every other month if that. The best result can be achieved by planting on a stone or tree root. Fishing line can be used to attach the plant while it becomes rooted. If it is planted in the bottom the rhizome must not be covered because it has a tendency to rot. It flowers frequently under water. It is not eaten by herbivorous fish. Some plants are sold under this name that are not Anubias barteri var. nana, and nor do they stay low.

This plant grows well with lighting just under 2 watts per gallon. I'm not sure when I will actually get a picture of this plant on my site. As stated earlier, the leaves survive for a long time and slow growing algae have a chance to become established. This is the situation I have with this plant.

I disposed of this plant, so no photo will be available.
