Otto, Oto, or sometimes Dwarf Sucker, is a good algae-eater
for small tanks, and large if enough Ottos are used. Because of the
Ottos size it is able to get the hard to reach places missed by larger
algae eaters. Also because of the Ottos size they will not dig up
shallow rooted plants. Otocinclus affinis stay to the bottom and mid
levels in the tank. They usually are not very active during the day.
At night they swim all around, and eat algae they find on the way.

Otto's are very sensitive to pollution and need oxygen
rich water, therefore the tank should be filtered well.

A planted tank with rocks and driftwood will provide
plenty of hiding spaces to prevent the fish from becoming stressed.
This algae eater will not eat plants, making it an ideal candidate
            for the planted aquarium.

Females are decidedly broader and rounder in appearance
then males. I've read were some say Ottos are egg scatterers, and
other say they lay adhesive eggs on rocks, broad leaved plants and
on the aquarium glass. I can not tell you for sure as mine have never
laid any eggs that I know of. Young hatch in 2-4 days.

Ottos will eat algae, algae wafers,
          cucumbers, lettuce and zucchini.
