This beautiful variety of Cryptocoryne wendtii is only found in the river Mi Oya. It has characteristic red-brown, slightly hammered leaves. Many Cryptocorynes can grow at high temperatures. In the wild this plant is found in streams with a temperature of more than 30 degrees C. At even higher temperatures the light intensity must be higher or the days longer. I have read were some peoples Cryptocoryne have suffered from crypt rot. This is when the whole plant "melts". I have never had this problem with the 2 types of Cryptocoryne that I own.

This plant reproduces by sending out runners.

This plant grows well with lighting of 1 1/2 watts per gallon. I have also grown this plant in brackish water at 1.004 salinity. It stays more of a lite green color the red-brown.
