Ellen is my sort of my English name. I chose this name when I was form 1 (year7) in Hong Kong, cos my English teacher forced me to do so. If not, he might call me either Susan or Mary. As my surname is LEE, then I found Ellen. There are double "L" and double "E". Actually, there is no other reason choosing this name.
My surname-LEE 李 means pear. My Chinese name is Pui 佩 Lam 霖. Since my elder sister's middle name is Pui. Then my parents just chose one more word. My dad chose Lam 琳 at the beginning. But I was always sick, then my mum chose another Lam 霖. The problem of the first Lam 琳 is no water in the writing structure for my Lee - pear 李, that's why I was sick all the time. Lam 霖 means a very heavy raining, then my pear Lee could have enough water, no more sick...or because I grew up later on. Actually, I don't believe in that as a Christian. Anyway, my HKID have been changed, what I could do?
