Welcome to the Autauga County Page
From time to time, I will post pix e-mailed to me of Autauga County scenes and people. Because of the demand, I ask that submitters limit themselves to scenes of most interest to others, and your most-want-to-tell about or ask about-relative. The pix will change as time and demand permit. Enjoy!
Above is a "Masonic Lodge motorcade to Washington Ferry" offering a view of the Moncrief store and "business district" in Prattville, 1912. Photo provided courtesy of Sandi Heath. Identification of above photo by John K. Brown.
Daniel Pratt was not the first Methodist cotton gin maker to come to Autauga County. I don't know who was, but my g-g-grandfather Rev. John DuBois came in 1820. Below is the last of three patents that John was granted for improvements made to the DuBois Cotton Gin. Like many smaller gin-makers, Rev. DuBois did not have the financial backing to weather bad crop years.

Coming soon will be the family trees.

I will be submitting several articles for the various Alabama Heritage Books for several Alabama Counties. I will post them as they are submitted. To see the first article submitted for the Autauga Book on the SLATON family, click "Next" below.
