1st Performance

Elizabeth Darrett is a professional singer and actress residing in New York City.  She has always enjoyed combining her gift and love of singing with her abiding faith that God holds her life journey in the palm of His hand.  She has been a performer in her church community as long as she can remember. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, she and her family were members of the United Methodist Church.  She has lived in California, Maryland, Connecticut, Upper New York State and New York City.  In her travels she has had the wonderful opportunity to share her love for the Lord through singing with a variety of church communities including Methodist, Lutheran, Catholic, Baptist, Congregational and Reform.  She has also traveled throughout Europe as a soloist with a group of young women singing hymns and spirituals for local church communities.

After several years as a music teacher in the Baltimore Public Schools, she returned to graduate school at Syracuse University to receive her Masters of Fine Arts in Theatre.  It was a special thrill for her when she was chosen to sing our National Anthem, "The Star-spangled Banner", at graduation in the 55,000 seat Syracuse Carrier Dome.  After Syracuse, she went to New York City where she has been a professional performer.  She has traveled the United States performing in National Tours, prestigious Regional Theatres, as well as appearing Off-Broadway and at Carnegie Hall.

Marble Collegiate Church Today, Elizabeth is a member of the Marble Collegiate Church congregation in New York City where she has often performed and given in service to a wide variety of Marble ministries. Marble Collegiate Church is known as America's Hometown Church and is America's oldest Protestant Church with a continuous ministry since 1628.  It is also from this pulpit that Norman Vincent Peale left a legacy of the message of The Power Of Positive Thinking and

today is led by the inspiring preaching of Dr. Arthur Caliandro.  Through her spiritual journey at Marble, Elizabeth was led to create this album of hymns, WITHIN THE STILLNESS, which is now played nationwide on inspirational radio stations such as Family Radio Network and Connecticut Radio Fellowship.

Dr. Robert D. Williams, Associate Minister and the Director of Pastoral Care, Counseling and the Community Outreach Ministry at Marble, was instrumental in his spiritual guidance, compassion and pastoral care during this time in Elizabeth's faith journey.  It is to him that she dedicates this album of hymns. He is a quiet and powerful strength to the Marble congregation. Elizabeth is honored to be a member of the Action Committee for Volunteer Outreach.  This dedicated committee of 15 coordinates Marble volunteers' participation with approximately 30 organizations and causes reaching out to meet the human needs of so many people in the New York City area.  Elizabeth is the coordinator of Marble's participation in volunteering with the Manhattan Special Olympics Spring Track and Field Games held each year in May.  It is quite a rewarding experience for the many volunteers.

Within The Stillness, was also made possible due to the talents and efforts of two dear and true friends of Elizabeth's. Mario E. Sprouse, Musical Producer and Arranger of the album, is the Director of the Arts Fellowship at Marble Collegiate Church. He has arranged and conducted over twenty inspirational and jazz albums. Mario has written original music for theatre and film as well as church events. He was Music Coordinator for HBO's documentary based on the life of Gordon Parks entitled,  Half Passed Autumn. Mark Pettijohn, Producer and Artist of the album, has had a varied career in education and the Peace Corps. Currently living in Southern California, he is busy producing industrial videos.
