Ears- A little-known fact is that I was hard-of-hearing as a young child. Those of you who fly regularly will probably know of the tube that serves to even pressure across your eardrum. This tube also drains wax etc from your ear canal; if it is blocked, the ear fills up and it becomes hard to hear. Mine had to basically be bored out when I was about 3 for this reason.

Elliott- My first name. I've grown to distrust baby names books, as they tend to be about as reliable as horoscopes, but one apparently more reliable book told me Elliott is a somewhat distant variation on Elijah, meaning "the Lord is my god". There are variations on how you can spell Elliott (1 l and/or 1 t), and I have dropped the 2nd t on occasions, mainly because a lot of other people don't get it right, so why should I?

Other famous Elliott's include:
Elliott Gould- Actor
Elliott Smith- Singer
Elliott Ness- "Untouchable"
Elliott- nurse on Scrubs.

While The Amblin motion picture E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial was released in the same year I was born, it was released a few years later in England, and consequently I am by no means named after the leading (human) character.

England- I come from England, one country that makes up the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Europe- I am, however a European. I am very sure of this- my life is centred around Europe and being a European, not least as I am undertaking a degree in European Languages.

Eyes- I have nice eyes... see?

February- I was born in February.
Fencing- For a brief period at school I donned straitjackets and helmets and minced up and down a cricket wicket waving a coat-hanger called an Epee. I am told this was called fencing. My brother was rather good at it (almost a national representative). I saw it for what it was and left it alone shortly after I started.
