THE
ELLSAESSER
AND
FRANKLIN FAMILIES

We have been researching the Ellsaesser Franklin Family history for many years.  We would really appreciate any information that anyone visiting this site might have and would be willing to share with us.

We have been very fortunate in receiving a lot of information along with all of our resarch on the Ellsaesser Family.   It is the Franklin Family that we have not been able to locate information on.

From our research we have been able to find out this information on my great grandmother, my daughter's great great grandmother Elizabeth Franklin Ellsaesser. &nsp; She evidently had come to the United States several years prior to her marriage to my great grandfather and was living with her mother's sister Elizabeth Franklin Burns.  It was in the Burns home in Dwight, Livingston, Illinois that she married my great, my daugher's great great grandfather.

It has been hard to locate information on my great grandmother, my daughter's great great grandmother mother Rebecca Franklin who was born on May 25, 1823 in Cambridge, England.  She evidently worked as a straw hat maker after her first daughter was born and was living with her parents.  We have been able to obtain information that indicates she had four daughters amd one son before she married.  Who the father was of these children is not known, but my great, my daugter's great great grandmother and her older sister Emma were born in Fulborn, Cambridge England, the other children, George, Emily and Mary Ann were all born in Chesteton, Cambridge England.  Her sister Emma we do not have the date of her birth but she died abt 1932 in Cambridge England.&nsp; She married a Richard Wilson, we do not have information as to when and where or any information on him other than he died abt 1932 in Cambridge England also.  They had eight children:  Lizzie, Tom, George, Bert, Will, Emily Daisy, Syd and Dorothy Mable.  We have not been able to find out any information on these children other than their names.  Rebecca's brother George was born on April 9, 1848 and died sometime in 1848.  Rebecca's sister Emily was born on May 12, 1848 but we do not have any other information on her, but she must have been a twin to the sister Mary Ann as they were both born on the same date.  Mary Ann died March 22, 1932 but we do not know where.  She married Frederick Henry Masters on November 2, 1867 in Chesterton, Cambridge England.  Frederick Masters was born in August of 1847 and died on November 29, 1926 in Chesterton Cambridge England. Frederick and Mary Ann Masters had fourteen children: Frederick, Elizabeth, Emily Rebekah, Frederick, William, Minnie, Bertie, Arthur, George Edward, Lily Emma, Sydney, Daisy, Sydney and Percy.  All of the children were born in Chesterton, Cambridge, England and all of them, with the exception of Daisy, died as infants or very young children.  Do not know when Daisy died but she did marry a man whose name was T. French but have not been able to locate any other information on him or whether they had children.

My great grandmother, my daughter's great great grandmother Rebecca did marry a James Cooley, after her first five children were born, on September 25, 1856.  They had five sons and the only information we have is their names:  Augustus, Joseph, William, Harry and Ted.

My great grandmother, my daughter's great great grandmother's parents were Thomas Franklin born abt 1791 in Bourn, Cambridge England and Mary Clayton born abt 1794 in 1794 in Wilburton, Cambridge England.  They were married October 19, 1813 in Cambridgeshire, Cambridge England and had eleven children.  Their children were:  child (no name), John, Joseph, Emma, George, Rebecca (my great grandmother and my daughter's great great grandmother), Eliabeth, Mary, Child (no name), Child (no name), and William.  We have not been able to find the parents for Thomas or Mary Clayton Franklin.
