Sharon Anderson

sanderson@elon.edu

Sharon Anderson is a senior from Lynchburg, VA (Brookville High School). She is a Broadcast Communications major and a Classical Studies minor (yes, she loves Latin more than any normal person would!). After graduation, she wants to produce news in a small market and work her way up to ABC WorldNews Tonight with Peter Jennings. Sharon came to Elon because of the wonderful communications program, the friendly proferssors, the Fellows programs, and the opportunity to study abroad. Her sister is also an alumna of Elon.

On Campus, Sharon is involved in Honors Fellows, Communications Fellows, Phoenix Report (former producer), Honors Advisory Committee, Percussion Ensemble, Intramural Sports, and Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She has worked on several documentaries on campus, and has also studied abroad for a semester in Perth, Australia (where she is going to move one day with her boyfriend Corey). Sharon also loves the movie Chicago and she is a huge *N Sync fan and hopes to one day meet Lance Bass. She, Mica, and Tonya both also enjoy  playing the game Family Feud. Sharon watches Paradise Hotel religiously, and can often be found talking about the show.

Mica Ball is a junior from Lewisburg, WV (and she has heard all the West Virginia jokes and hates them all!). She graduated from Summers Co. High School in 2001. She is a Psychology major. She wants to live in a big city and work within major corporations as an Industrial Organizational Psychologist.

Mica has been involved in many things on campus, including Leadership Fellows and Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She likes to hang out with her friends and watch girly movies like Sweet Home Alabama and Dirty Dancing. She also loves watching Paradise Hotel, and is very upset that Beau was evicted. Mica also has a huge crush on Kenny Chesney and hopes to one day have him sing to her. If you need a good place to eat in Burlington, Mica suggest Ham's simply because of the homemade chips. Also, Mica enjoys long walks on the beach with her Marine boyfriend, Ryan. She lived in West freshman year, but never saw the legendary ghost.

Jennie Carman

jcarman@elon.edu

Jennie Carman is a junior from Laytonsville, MD (Gaithersburg High School). She is a film and English double-major, and one day hopes to become a screenwriter. Jennie came to Elon because of the small size and she wanted to come to the South.

On campus, Jennie is a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She lived in the house last year and said it was a great experience. Jennie recently returned from a trip to New York where she chopped off her hair and got her eyebrow pierced. She loves to eat at Panera and is very excited that they now accept the Phoenix Card. Jennie also likes to eat at Upstairs McEwen on campus.

Laura Clapp is from Whitsett, North Carolina. She graduated from Southeast Guilford High School in 2001, making her a junior this year. She is a Spanish Education and Psychology major. She hopes to be a school psychologist.

Laura is involved in Teaching Fellows. She is studying abroad in Spain for the fall of 2003. Her favorite movie is Dead Poet's Society because it is a teacher movie. In the office, Laura loves to download and play computer games. She also loves Arby's roast beef. On campus, Laura enjoys smoothies from Freshen's. She also loved living in Staley because her room had a bathtub.

Brett "Coop" Cooper

bcooper@elon.edu

Brett Cooper (better known as “Coop” to everyone on campus) is a junior hailing from Virginia Beach, Virginia (Kempsville High School). He is a Political Science and International Studies major with a minor in History. One day he will be on the Supreme Court as well as coaching a football team. He says he came to Elon because he had all the advantages of a large university as well as the small school atmosphere.

Coop is an RA on campus, much loved by his residents. He also is a ref/umpire for Campus Rec, President of Model United Nations, VP of the North Carolina Student Legislature, an Advisor for the Resident Student Association, a Junior Leadership Fellow, and a producer and technician for ESTV sports (but he advises incoming freshmen not to spread themselves too thin and join too many things!). He loves O’Charley’s and Octagon Café, and is currently listening to Twisted Measure’s (Elon’s a capella group) latest CD, “The Best of Live.”

Anne Corbitt is a senior from Atlanta, Georgia. And yes, she is actually from Atlanta, not a wannabe like the people from the suburbs who wish they were really from Atlanta. She attended Pace Academy and graduated in 2000. Anne is a Creative Writing major with a minor in gender studies. When she graduates she wants to become a writer. She spent Fall 2002 at St. Andrew’s University in Scotland and even saw Prince William!

On campus, Anne is an Honors Fellow, a Writing Center tutor, and a member of the Liberal Arts Forum. She also has organized and directed benefit productions of the Vagina Monologues for the past two years, raising over $2000 for Crossroads Sexual Assault Response and Resource Center. She advises students who have been accepted to Elon to sign up for one of the pre-freshman activities, like PreServe or Adventures in Leadership because you make a lot of friends before you officially come to campus.

Lori Milligan comes to Elon from Gainesville, GA. She graduated from West Hall High School in 2001, making her a junior. She is majoring in Math and minoring in Spanish. She fell in love with Elon the first time she visited. When she graduates, she wants to become a professor.

Lori is active in the Leadership Fellows, Emerging Leaders, Spanish Club, Math Club, and Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She says to tell prospective students, “Elon’s GREAT!!” She hates people who cut in front of her car and then slow down. She likes chocolate ice cream and prefers to eat in McEwen dining hall.

Michelle Moody

mmoody@elon.edu

Michelle Moody is from West Palm Beach, Florida. She graduated from Wellington High School. She is a junior Political Science and Sociology major. She wants to work for the ACLU one day. Michelle came to Elon because everyone was so friendly on her campus visit.

Michelle is involved in Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity on campus. She is also involved in Spectrum, Rugby Club, and Elon Cares. Her eyes randomly change color, so look for that if you go on tour with her! Michelle likes to dine at the Village Grill, and is a big fan of Our Lady Peace.

Brent Odom is from Smithfiled, North Carolina and attended Smithfiled-Selma High School, home of the Spartans. He is a senior History Education major. His dream job is to become the US Secretary of Education. Brent came to Elon because of The beautiful campus, the medium-sized population, location, great Education program, and top ranked study abroad program. (He also says the fact that there are more girls than guys at Elon didn't hurt).

Brent is a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. He is also involved in SGA and Intervarsity. Brent spent a winter term in Ghana, teaching school children and learning about the culture. He says this will help him when he student teaches this spring. Brent loves Zack's Hotdogs in Burlington. He likes to spend time at the beach. In the office, Brent is always busy being the king of organization, putting away boxes and cleaning up after the rest of the guides. Brent loves Paradise Hotel, especially Charla.

Tonya Reese

treese@elon.edu

Tonya Reese is from Asheville, North Carolina. She went to Clyde A. Erwin High School and graduated in 2001. She is now a junior Music Education major (she plays the flute). Her dream job is becoming a music teacher. No, really! It is! She loves band camp more than any normal person should.

Tonya also loves her fiance "Jeffy". He is in the Navy and proposed to her in July. If you have a tour with her, check out the bling-bling. But beware: she may talk constantly about her Jeffy. Tonya loves Elon because of the pretty campus, the friendly people, the distance from her home, and because the music department gave her a really big scholarship. Tonya advises all Elon students to bring foam egg crates for their mattresses because it makes them "fluffy, like you're sleeping on air." She also has two different colored eyes, and they change with her mood. In the office, you can find Tonya talking about Jeff, checking her email, sniffing White-Out and Scotch tape, playing Family Feud with Mica and Sharon, and flitting about, doing random things. She keeps the guides entertained with her random thoughts and stories about her Homestyle Bakes. Tonya also loves the Nut Hut, aka the Acorn Coffee Shop.

Cecelia Mizell Thompson is from Gainsville, Florida and went to Gainesville High School. She is a junior majoring in Sociology and Public Administration. She now has an internship with the Burlington City Planning Department where she enters numbers into a computer and emails her tour guide buddies whom she misses dearly when she is interning every Tuesday. She wants to write grants for a non-profit organization "when she grows up."

On campus, Cecelia is in Jazz Band, Orchestra, and also participates in Service Learning. She spends a lot of time in Chapel Hill visiting friends. On weekends, she hangs out with friends, watches movies, shops, and, of course, plays Marco Polo in her apartment's pool. She has an unbelievable power of persuasion which she uses on prospective students to convince them to come to Elon. In the office you can find Cecelia answering phones or telling stories about her random happenings. She also sometimes watches Paradise Hotel with the rest of the tour guide crew.

Jared Wiemann is from somewhere around Boston, Massachussettes. He is a senior biology major and loves working with the cadavers on campus. He has been interning with Lab Corp all summer--ask him all about corn fertilization and STD testing! He wants to be a doctor one day.

Jared's favorite new TV show is Nip Tuck, but he also watches Paradise Hotel and loves Kristen (ask him why). He enjoys working out and killing bugs for Sharon and Mica because he is blessed to be their neighbor. Jared is also the president of Phi Alpha Tau, established in 2003. He says he came to Elon because he knew he was destined to meet people like Sharon and Mica and the other tour guides. He loves eating all of their food and working just on Saturdays. If Jared had replied, maybe he would have a more credible biography. Since he did not, however, someone else wrote it for him. You're Welcome, Jared.
