A long time ago in a galaxy far away.... When I was in high school I was over a friend's house and she had this drawer full of rubber bands. Curious, I asked her why. She said that every day the paperboy delivered the paper, he wrapped it in a rubber band. So, one day, while I was waiting for her to get ready, I started a ball, mostly out of sheer boredom. Every day, I'd add a little more until all the rubber bands were gone. I dragged it to school one day and it became a hit. People started giving me rubber bands, I thought nothing of it.

The ball traveled with me to college, where it also became a hit in my dorm. On a dare, I placed an ad in the school newspaper asking people to send me rubber bands. The response was overwhelming! I had people sending me everything from single rubber bands to envelopes full, and even some other rubber items that I shouldn't mention! I continued the ads throughout most of college.

After college, the ball was the size of a large cantaloupe. It sat in my room at home and didn't grow for a while. Only recently, I was reminded of it when a co-worker had a tiny little one sitting on his desk. Coincidentally, that same day, my grandmother gave me a huge bag of rubber bands and I started collecting rubber bands again.

Now the ball is the size a bowling ball. I had so much fun collecting rubber bands from other people via the school newspaper that I decided to go to a bigger and wider audience... the INTERNET COMMUNITY!

WANNA CONTRIBUTE!?!?

First off, thank you so much for contributing! This ball was made entirely with the kindness of people like you! Along with your rubber band(s), please send me your name, where you're from, or web page address, so I can thank you properly on this web page. If you want to remain anonymous, then just send the rubber band(s). Due to the size of the rubber band ball, it no longer can accommodate small rubber bands. Please send medium to large sizes! Any color or amount is welcomed! One of the fun things people used to do is write messages on the rubber bands. If you want to do that, feel free!

Please send to:
