Humes High School Nite, 28th March 2003
The Elvis Touch held a "Humes High School Prom Nite" on Friday 28th March 2003 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Elvis's graduation from Humes High School, Memphis in March 1953.

We asked that fans bring along old school photos, which were displayed on the walls for everybody to enjoy (the more embarrassing the better!!)  Many fans did make the effort to dress up - lots of school ties, shorts and gymslips, pigtails, 50s Prom Night dresses and tuxes - even the head teacher showed up with her mortar board, cane and leather belt!  We all enjoyed home-made clootie dumpling and custard for our supper (thanks, Dot - delicious as always!)

Mhairi celebrated her 50th birthday and the Elvis Touch/Lesley surprised her with a lovely cake with a big "50" on it and a nice kisso-gram with a mask who reminded us a lot of our DJ!  We think she enjoyed the surprise.  Got the photos to prove it Mhairi!!

As is usual for the last few dances, the hall was filled to capacity, and more tables had to be brought in to accommodate everybody.  It was also great to hear an advance copy of Lisa's new single, which was excellent.

On a sad note, we were all very sorry to hear of the sudden death of Jimmy Lester, who had been a member of the Elvis Touch for the last 4 years.  Jane said some nice words of tribute, and we remembered Jimmy with a minute's silence.
