Italy - Near Barberino |
From Barberino we were able to visit some wonderful cities. The bus was very convenient and Siena was less than an hour away. In warm sunshine we enjoyed just walking and looking; some great food, coffee, and exquisite hot chocolate.. We saw a magnificent art collection in the Palazzo Publica - the tower shows here. |
The main square of Siena dating back to 1293 |
San Gimignano with its walls round the town and spectacular 13 towers. Again, the little narrow alleys were fun to explore and we had great views from the town walls over the Tuscan fields |
A colourful enclosed courtyard for the Town Hall. Up the stairs a meeting was taking place |
The hilltop towns offered wonderful views of the countryside. We could see vineyards, olive groves, rape seed, and it all looked so bright and green in the early summer sun. |
