Blind Love | ||||||
This is an excerpt from Chapter Two. The excerpt was taken from the middle of the chapter The visit to her brother helped keep her mind off Johnny for a little while, but now her thoughts were back to where she didn't want them to be. She would be meeting his fiancée. She was sure that Bobby had known that Johnny was engaged yet didn't mention it. He probably wasn't sure how she'd handle the news. It wouldn;t be easy, but she;d survive. If she could make it in the shark eat shark world of modeling and acting, she could handle her high school crush being engaged to another woman. She dressed semi-casually, hoping it would be appropriate. She wore a gray velvet above the knee skirt and a red silk button up shirt. She wanted to look spectacular for Johnny and knew that red would do it. She arrived at Johnny's apartment fifteen minutes early, but couldn't stay away any longer. Her nerves were stretched as far as they would go, and she just wanted to get tonight over with. Maybe after she met this woman, she would be able to get on with her life. She had hoped she liked the woman Johnny was in love with, it would be difficult for her is she hated the woman. Knocking softly, she was glad that Johnny answered the door and not Susan. She wasn't sure if Susan lived with him or not, didn't want to meet her without talking with Johnny first. "Hey," She said not sure what to say or expect. He was consciously looking her over, and she was glad she looked good. "Hi. Come on in." He stepped aside as she walked in. "You look great." She looked better than great she looked wonderful. He knew that it was no accident that she was dressed to kill; Stephanie didn't know any other way. Everything she wore looked like it had been made exclusively for her, fitting her perfectly, molding to her shape, and showing off her body. Her skirt was very decent, but showed off enough leg to entice any man. He was definitely tempted, against his better judgment. She overwhelmed all of his senses. Sight, which was obvious, just looking at her made him reel. Sound, her voice was a melody to his ears, soft and rich as honey. Touch, he was still dazed from the simple touch of her skin from earlier this afternoon. His taste was yet to be totally invaded, even though he could imagine tasting her mouth, and the fresh mint. He wanted nothing more than to taste her once. His smell had been assaulted as soon as he opened the door. It was like a walk through a field of wild exotic flowers, overpowering his senses and making him crazy. Crazy with need. She beamed at him; glad he noticed and thought to say something to her. He looked wonderful also. He was wearing a pair of khaki's and a blue polo shirt. She thought he looked delectable and his cologne was refreshing, clean, and intoxicating, as though he had just stepped out of a spring shower. But she refrained from saying so, instead she said. "Thanks, you look nice too." He checked on the food that he already had in the oven, and kept the conversation going. "Susan called saying she would be a little late, I hope you don't mind." "Of course not." She actually didn't mind at all, Susan really didn?t even have to show up. "So, how did you spend the rest of your day?" Johnny couldn't help but remember that something had upset her before he left her house, and he was hoping to find out what it had been. To occupy his time, and act as though it was a simple question, he began putting a salad together. "I went out to the Last Chance Bar & Grill to see Bobby." Johnny had been to Bobby's club many times. "How's that scoundrel doing?" Johnny hadn't seen him in a few months. There had been a time when they were best of friends and inseparable. Until Johnny had met Steph, and then quickly replaced Bobby. Of course, they had stayed close friends since Johnny spent practically all of his time at Steph's house. "Staying busy with that club of his. I've agreed to work there a couple nights a week until I get settled in a house and found my purpose in life." She grinned at her self-ribbing. Johnny turned to look at her, forgetting about the salad for a moment. "Are you sure that's a good idea?" "What do you mean?" Walking over to her, he put his finger in the opening of her blouse on her left collarbone, letting her know what he was talking about. "You are a very famous person, and your pictures were plastered all over the world. Men, especially, know who you are, and there are a lot of rough people that hang out at the bar." Stephanie took his hand, and just held it. She didn't move it away from her, and didn't say anything about him putting his hand into her blouse. She knew he was concerned and she loved him more for that concern. Unfortunately, she never got a chance to say anything; Susan chose that moment to walk into the kitchen. |
