PALESTINE EYE
< To all those who gave thier lifes in order to give us a better live. May thier souls rest in peace>
Palestine, historic region, situated on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, in southwestern Asia, Palestine has been militarily occupied since May, 1948 by European Jew Forces. The same forces declared independence in May 15, 1948 and they named the newly occupied land Israel.

Palestine is now largely divided between mainland (israel) and the Occupied Territories, parts of which are self-administered by the original owners of the land 'citizens' the Palestinians.

The region's diverse terrain includes a coastal plain; the hills and mountains of Galilee, Samaria, and Judea; the valley of the Jordan River; and the eastern plateau. The Jordan River, the region's only major stream, flows south through Lake Tiberias to the Dead Sea.

Why the U.S. should end aid to Israel

By Todd May

Philosophers are often renown for two things: their ability to think logically
and their irrelevance to public discussion and debate. I am hoping to buck
the trend a bit here by using my training in thought to offer a practical
solution to a complex issue before the public. The issue is that of how to
respond to the unfolding crisis in Israel and Palestine. The solution is this:
end all aid to Israel. Not just military aid. All aid. Not just all aid until Israel
ends its military occupation....All aid. Period.

There are several simple, but compelling reasons, for Americans to support
such a proposal. First and foremost, by squandering the aid we have given
Israel over the years (nearly five billion dollars a year, including incidentals) in
the massive violation of the human rights, autonomy, and dignity of another
people, Israel has forfeited any claim it might have to that aid. Regardless of
the individual acts of desperation and terrorism that some Palestinians
commit, the overwhelming destructiveness that Israel has performed on the
Palestinian people for the last thirty-five years demonstrates that its goal has
always been, and remains, the dominance of another people. The U.S.
should not be aiding Israel no more than it should have been aiding South
Africa under apartheid, Iran under the Shah, Iraq's Saddam during his war
with Iran, Cambodia under Pol Pot, or Indonesia during its campaign against
the East Timorese.

GLOBALIZATION

"Globalization," the catch phrase of our time, means that we are connected more than ever before; trade, travel and the many avenues of communication, lubricated by the vectors of modern transport, electronic communications and the mass media, have bound the human species into the family of man. Our economies are linked. Our cultures borrow freely from each other. We witness on our televisions, often "live", great events where ever they may take place; the celebrations of royal weddings, great sporting competitions, spectacular breakthroughs in space age technology and molecular science, but also the suffering of exploited peoples, famine and starvation, disenfranchisement and enslavement, ethnic cleansing and mass murders.

How do we respond to this ceaseless tragic-comedy? How should we? As long as we permit these messages to wash over us, as if they were nothing more than some silly television soap, or perhaps abstract signals from another world, our humanity remains on hold. Yet the humanity within each of us should call forth some response. Should we not join together in affirming those things we hold to be true and self evident; that all humans must enjoy the fundamental rights to life, liberty and dignity? Remember the words of John Dunne:
No man is an Island, entire of it selfe; any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankinde; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee.
