Community Gatherings

Our community has grown, and as an organization gets large, the communication of structure sometimes falls behind the needs. In this light, it has been pointed out to the board that everyone does not know about our Gatherings and other functions.

At our GATHERINGS we bring a covered dish and have a meal and fellowship.

At our other functions, we bring snacks and “munch” and have fellowship.

So, which is which, or what do I bring when?

Most important, bring yourself to all the gatherings and functions. We can’t have either if we don’t attend.

We currently have four Gatherings:
Spring Consecration – for members
Fall Consecration – for members
Summer Picnic – for members and guests
Christmas Gathering – for members and guests

The Consecration Services and gathering are for our members, at which time we consecrate the team members for the upcoming walks and then have a covered dish meal afterwards.

The Summer Picnic and Christmas Gathering are time that we can bring others with us so that they might have a meal with us and see a little into the Emmaus Community.

The other functions, where snacks are brought, are the four Follow-Up Services after each set of walks. This also is for our members only, as it is a service that is part if the walk experience and that is a cloistered event. I might mention that some of those snacks get pretty heavy at times, but are never wasted.

I hope this will help everyone understand about our Gatherings and Functions. It is a great time for fellowship.

We also have a new board member, Stanley Stowe, who is in charge of Gatherings & Follow-up. I am sure that Stanley will welcome any suggestions that you might have as to how we can improve on our events and communicating them to the community.
