Cinderella, advised by her bird-friends, heads into the forest (disguised) to investigate news that her Mother’s grave is destroyed.
Once again the woods are revealed, showing terrible signs of havoc as the action progresses. While the others are off on their urgent business, the Princes meet in the woods once more...preoccupied with different concerns: two new unobtainable maidens who have them, once again, in Agony. They head off in different directions.
The Baker’s family and Little Red appear, unable to find the way to Granny’s house. As they search, they come across the Prince’s Steward, The Step-family, and the Witch. A loud noise is herd in the distance, the earth shakes and a Giant hovers over them. The Giant is a woman!
The Giantess is in search of the lad, Jack, to avenge the death of her husband. Jack is not there, as they attempt to explain...yet the Giant will not believe them, for she is near-sighted. The characters resort to offering the Narrator instead...some of them don’t like the way he has been telling the story, anyway. He luckily convinced them to let him go-he is the only one who knows the story, if he is killed...all would be lost. As he backs away, the Witch throws him to the Giantess.

Everyone begins to blame the others for the presence of the Giant. It all boils down to the Witch, she immediately silences the group. She informs them it is the last midnight, and that she has had enough. She scatters her beans, and - calling out to her mother -decends into the ground in a cloud of smoke.
The Baker abandons his son as well as the others, leaving his son with Cinderella. He runs off, and is soon met by his father, the Mysterious Man. There follows a passionate exchange between father and son...and the Baker understands that it is time to assume his responsibilities, the Mysterious Man runs off.

The others rush off to put the plan into motion, and Cinderella stays behind with the Baker’s son. Cinderella’s Prince bounds on stage, and notices his Princess. She is upset that he betrayed her, and explains that she cannot go back to the palace. He leaves, regretfully.
