| -Suporting Role Baritone (C# to high E) Rapunzel's Prince overhears when the Witch comes to visit Rapunzel, and (although he finds the name strange) vows to have her as his bride. He also meets his brother, Cinderella's Prince, in the wood...and both express the agony of catching their loves. Yet, the Witch will not share her Rapunzel with anyone...and takes the Prince by suprise at the tower, where he falls into a thicket of briar, and is blinded. Rapunzel's Prince stumbles onstage at the end of Act I, where Rapunzel-overjoyed-cures his blindness with two of her tears. In Act II, another princess has caught his eye...Snow White, and by the end of the act has her instead of the insane Rapunzel. "Rapunzel, Rapunzel. What a strange name. Strange but beautiful...and fit for a Prince. Tomorrow, before the horrible with arrives, I will stand before her window and ask her to let her hair down to me." |
