"I'm sorry, Mortie," the Chief said apologetically. "We had the phone call
traced to a phone booth in France."

"He's probably gone by now," Mortimer answered.

In Brooklyn, New York, Zack strolled down the street. He and Ivy were on
another break, trying to make up for the ruined vacation in Norway.

Leaning against a wall, Lee watched Zack walk past him. "How did you get out
of the cabin alive?"

Zack instantly recognized the voice. He spun around. "We had to take the
scenic route. Through the vent, to the ceiling, and down to the ground, then
the C-5 corridor," he informed icily.

Lee moved forward. Zack turned and tore down the road. Soon he came to a
large building. A sign read: Sweet Stuff Candy Factory.

Zack didn't hesitate. He pulled open the door and ran in.

Lee followed. He came to a hallway. "Oh, Zack?"

Lee didn't notice the gumballs on the floor. He slipped, flipped through the
air, and landed in a vat of chocolate.

Zack was on a balcony above. Lee climbed out of the chocolate tub.

Zack moved to a machine and pressed a button. "Eat almonds, geekwad!" Nuts
began flying out of the machine and pelted Lee in the face. Unfortunately,
the nut supply soon was depleted.

A trapdoor opened under Lee's feet. "Aaah!" he cried as he fell in a tub of
hot caramel.

Zack ran for the door, but Lee had somehow managed to climb out the tank of
caramel and block it. Zack ran the opposite direction.

Lee walked casually to another candy machine, pressing a button. Then he
turned and began to give chase.

Zack climbed onto a bar. Lee caught up with him and shoved him off.

"What is this?" Zack asked as he struggled to get up. He was stuck in a
substance that was as sticky as tar. The answer came to him:taffy.

"There is an upside to this," Lee commented from the other side of the bar.
"No one will think to look for us here in this candy factory. And one thing,
Zack- there is no escape."

Ivy paced her hotel room. Zack was supposed to meet her fifteen minutes ago.
He had said that if he didn't show up within ten minutes, to go back to Acme
Headquarters. Ivy gave an exasperated sigh. Something must have come up.

"Lee Jordan sighted in Brooklyn," the Chief called.

"Thanks for the tip, Chief," Mortimer replied.

Just then, the C-5 corridor opened, and Ivy stepped out. "Has Zack been
here?"

"Not since this morning," Mortimer answered.

The Chief glanced at them uneasily. "Something must have gone wrong. Lee is
currently in Brooklyn-"

Ivy interrupted him, "You don't suppose- oh, no."

"You have to do something!" cried the Chief.

"I'm going back to Brooklyn." Ivy replied.

The Chief only replied, "You'll need someone to help you."

Ivy knew what he was hinting at. "Mortimer? Not on your life!" But she
already knew complaining was useless. She had to work with Mortimer.

Ten minutes later, Mortimer and Ivy were in an elevator in the hotel Lee was
staying. Some investigation told them that Lee had checked out. The elevator
stalled.

"What's going on?" Ivy asked.

"It must be stuck," observed Mortimer.

"WHAT?"
