"Gruesome Twosome, Part 5: Team Up"
"Whew, that was a little to close for me," Duke cried out, rubbing
his sweaty forehead and looking at the detectives." You want to tell us what
on Earth you guys are doing here?"
"We were hot on the trail of a thief named Carmen Sandiego," Ivy
began to explain.
"Who?" Mallory asked curiously. As a soldier, criminal cases were
always of special intrest to her.
"Haven't you ever heared of Carmen Sandiego?" Zack asked amazed.
"She's one of the best thieves in the whole World! She's always inventing
new ways of breaking and entering into things to steal priceless objects.
She is so difficult to catch!"
"Sound kind of familiar, Duke?" Mallory teased.
"As a matter of fact, that DOES kind of ring a bell.." Duke said.
"YOU once tried to catch her?" Ivy asked.
"Nah, but as a former thief myself before I reformed, I have to
always be aware of the competition," Duke explained slyly.
"You were trying to catch a thief?" Wildwing asked, "But we had a
call from Drake 1 (our computer) that Dragonous's henchmen were here!"
Now it was Ivy's turn to say, "Who?"
"Dragonous," Nosedive explained, " is this totally evil lizard who
escaped from a Dimentional Prison a couple of years ago.."
"Is HE that evil warlord that you guys are always chasing that I
read about in the newspaper?" Zack asked.
"Right!" Nosedive answered.
"His henchmen wouldn't happen to be three huge lizards with guns,
would they?" Ivy asked.
"Exactly," Mallory answered, "The ones we just saved you from!"
Ivy blushed, realizing what Mallory was saying. "Thank you!!" she said.
Mallory smiled, "Anytime!!"
"What I can't figure out is, why would Dragonous's henchmen be in
the same place that your criminal is?" said Wildwing.
"You don't think they could have joined up?" Zack asked suddenly.
"Impossible, little bro! I mean, those Lizards tried to kill us
just now! I mean, we both know MURDER isn't Carmen's style!"
"What are you talking about?" Tanya asked.
"Carmen just steals, usually for the fun and challenge of it, but
she's NEVER murdered, or even seriously hurt anyone ever before in her
life!! She always plans things out carefully so that never happens!"
"Whoa, a crook with a heart? Now THERE'S something you don't see
everyday!!" Mallory said before she turned around and noticed Duke was
giving her a filthy look. "Oh..sorry," she said bowing her head.
Just then a loud beep filled the air. At once all of them glanced at
their wrists.
"Isn't the chief," Zack said.
"Drake 1 reprorts a strange reading coming from a museum near San
Francisco," Mallory cried.
"Drake 1?"
"Our computer," she explained." It reports whenever there's trouble!"
"It could be Dragonous, let's move!" Wildwing ordered, pointing to
the Migrator.He turned to Ivy and Zack, "If this criminal you're talking
about HAS joined up with Dragonous, we can help one another. You both must
be very smart to be detectives while still young, if you help us, we'll help
you."
"Cool!!" Zack cried.
"It's a deal!" Ivy agreed, sticking out her hand to shake
Wildwing's. She noticed Mallory looked very happy about this arrangement.
"But first," Wildwing said," In the event that we ever have to take
you back to our headquarters, I want you to raise your right hands and swear
that you will never tell anyone the location of it, it's top secret, and it
has to stay that way. Swear that you will never tell anyone you were in it
or where it is. Do you swear?"
The detectives swore.
"Good, quick, get in the Migrator!" Wildwing cried out, pointing to it.
A little while later they were in trhe Museum, looking around
carefully. Soon they spied Seige stuffing a huge Sapphire into a bag with him.
"Hold it right there, you creep!" Duke cried out,drawing his sword.
"Take him, team!!" Wildwing cried out, instantly they were all
grabbing hold of Seige before he could withdraw his gun. "How about we take
a little trip to the Raptor?"
"No, you wouldn't DARE!!" Seige cried.
"Oh, I wouldn't, would I?" Wildwing cried, "Grab hold!" he cried. They
all did so except Ivy and Zack.
"Come on, take my hand," Mallory said extending her right arm,
"Teleportation doen't hurt." relctantly, Ivy did so and took her brother's
hand. "Grab Nosedive with your other hand," Mallory instructed.
Wildwing pushed a few buttons on the teleporter and instantly a bright
light surrounded the detectives. When it went away, they found themselves standing
in a huge massive building.
"Spread out, look for Dragonous," Wildwing ordered."Mallory, Ivy, go
down that corrider, Tanya, Nosedive, take Zack and go down that way. The
rest of us will search down there."
