The following words are my own - and my own opinion.  I'm no expert... but I am a mother of a childhood cancer survivor, and the daughter of a breast cancer survivor, and friend to many who are now testing + for HIV/AIDS.

As a health care professional, I have seen the devastation that diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's bring to the victims and their families.  As a mom of a cancer-kid...I know first hand what a nightmare cancer can be.

I am 100% in favor of stem cell research.  These cells are NOT embryos.  They are not people, and will never develop into humans. Despite the fact that stem cell research holds immense promise for over 100 million suffering Americans and has strong bipartisan support, the Bush administration continues to stand in the way of progress.

In my opinion, the Bush Administration has crossed the line - the "separation of church and state" line.  Mr. Bush is allowing his religious beliefs to dictate governmental policies. That is just plain WRONG!  We are standing on the brink of discovery....much like the great explorers of history who were condemned by those who allowed ideology to overide the facts of science.

I encourage ALL who read this to seek out more information,  ask questions of your Congressmen and Senators....and consider casting your vote in November 2004 in favor of a candidate who, while being a man of strong faith, will not allow his religion to interfere with the actions of the government...and will be a supporter of stem cell research!

I am supporting John Kerry for President.  I hope you will too.

Thanks for taking the time to read my opinion.  Whether or not you agree with it...before you close your mind completely to the idea of this groundbreaking research - get more information.  Don't rely on just one opinion.

Thanks!
