DAVID'S HOUSE

In 1984 David Cyr, a brave little boy from Hartland, VT., lost his struggle against acute lymphocytic leukemia. All through his illness, David remained an outgoing and happy child. During his stays at Darmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center he befriended many other young patients whom he longed to invite to his house, his haven from the painful, confusing, and sometimes frightening things that happen to children when they are ill.
David's parents knew that many of these children's families had to sleep in their car or in a hospital waiting room, because they could not afford a motel room. They also believed-and the medical profession agrees-that children respond better to treatment when their families can stay close by to give care and support during their illness.
After David's death his parents and many other caring people created a homelike place near Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center where families can stay while their children are in treatment. They named it David's House. Since 1986 David's House has served thousands of families from all over New Hampshire, Vermont, New England, and the world.
David's House will continue to except donations at any time.
