Another Fan, Shannon, created a Blue's Clues Matching Game for her Daughter. She created a page that has Blue Pawprints for the back of the cards, and then used some images from the internet and others that she created, to make the front sides. She recommends printing them out in Corel Draw, so they match up. Shannon sent the files to us. We have put them online, so that others can download them for their kids. Matching GameThank you Shannon!
(Note: We are glad to see that Eden is backing their products and are making sure that everyone is happy with them. Thank you Kelly. )Hello fellow Blue's fans! My daughter Rebecca (2) and I wanted to share with you our experience with one of the first Blue's Clues products to hit the market: The TV Play-Along Kit. The Kit includes a plush Blue, 3 felt pawprint 'clues', Steve's notebook and crayon and sells for $16.
First, a little warning to parents: while your preschooler will be delighted with the contents of the package your first thought may well be "Is That All?". The Blue toy is very small indeed, but a preschooler can just about hug it. The notebook and crayon quickly become treasured possessions too.
Now the down side.... We found that less than 24 hours After receiving the Kit, the notebook was showing distinct signs of wear. The back cover of the notebook says,"use with a washable crayon for longer lasting play!" The crayon included in the kit is a washable one but there aren't any cleaning instructions.
After a few scribbling and cleaning sessions the coating on the notebook pages was starting to wear away and moisture from the slightly damp towel I was using to clean with was getting into the unsealed edges of the pages. I thought that the design of the notebook was very poor indeed and may well disappoint some of the older children when it doesn't 'work' anymore.
I contacted RedRocket.com whom we ordered it from to complain. Their responce was swift and extremely helpful. They agreed to send me a complete replacement kit and no cost to myself. Their email stated that they were presently out of stock but would send one as soon as it was available.
Apparently Red Rocket didn't wait for their stock delivery but must have forwarded my concerns directly to Eden who manufacture the Kit. We have now received a replacement Kit, pre-paid envelope to return the old Kit, a letter of apology and a bonus 7" plush Blue (which retails for $14!). I am heartly impressed with the level of customer service of both Red Rocket and Eden - you don't see that often nowadays!!
Included in the letter were instructions on using the notebook: "When cleaning the notebook, we suggest that you use a clean dry cloth or paper towel to wipe the notebook surface clean. Do not use water." I've found that some paper towels work better than others, so experiment before turning the notebook over to your child.
I'm still not totally convinced that the notebook will stand the test of time, but with the proper cleaning instructions we have seen a distinct improvement!
From Kelly
