Daddy's Away Again!1Keep a picture journal-If you can write everynight sit down and think of the most memorable moment of that day. It can be anything a class, watching tv with your mom, playing a game...write a page about that moment of the day. If you can't write draw a picture of that moment, of what made that day special. Do this everyday and once a week mail the pages to your daddy, if he is going to be gone long enough or present them to him as a welcome home present if it is a short trip. It will make your father feel involved and loved! 2Envelope Surprise- If you can't write have your mommy help you with this... If you daddy is going on a short deployment (not long enough to recieve mail) prepare this ahead of time and hide it in his bags. If he is going for a long time mail this to him! Get together 30 envelopes (or less if his trip is shorter than this).In each envelop put eithre a picture you drew, a letter, candy, a photo of you, etc. Number the envelopes 1-30. Explain to your daddy that he is to open one envelope a morning. That way he always gets to start his day with you and knowing you love him! 3Make a Tape- You will definitely need mommy's help with this one... but I bet you she'll be more than happy to help. Get a blank cassette tape. With help tape yourself singing songs, talking about school, church, dance class, or whatever you want. Get the rest of your family to put messages to daddy on it. Make the last message one of you saying you love him and will see him soon.Decorate the paper isert that goes in the case with crayons. Then you can send the tape to your daddy and he gets to enjoy a little bit of your life while he is away and maybe he'll even send you a tape back (if he can) 4Start planning his return-There is lots of planning to do for daddys return there is lots of decorating to do.One thing you can start right after he leaves is making paper link garland .Take colorful strips of paper and make one link for everyday he is gone! Use it to decorate when the time comes.When it gets closer to his return something you can do all by yourself is decorate a banner. Make a big banner to say WELCOME HOME DADDY!!!!!!!!! Your mommy can write the words and then you can decorate it! All Marines love to see a big sign waiting to help welcome them home! 5Show him how you've grown-Once a month have mommy measure your height with string. Then have make your hand and feet prints on a piece of paper. This way your daddy can keep track of how fast you are growing! 6Make a movie-Have mommy make a movie about you and your family. Call it a day in the life of us! That way Daddy can feel involved in your day to day experiences. 7Learn about where daddy is-Get a map or make a map and learn about where daddy is. If he is on a ship chart the different places he goes. Learn about the countrys he goes too:what language do they speak, what do they eat, how do they dress? You could even learn a few words in the language of where he is at that moment. Try and learn to say Hi and Good bye. Many cultures have several words to say good bye including one that means til we meet again! (How apporpriate) 8Create a family newsletter-Take photos and draw pictures, have an older sibling or mommy write about the different things going on and then put it together like a newsletter or newspaper. 9Email?- If daddy has access to email, send him an email letter. If if you can't write yet.... write to the best of your ability! Remember daddy loves anything you do, if you try! 10Care packages- Help mommy put together Daddy's care packages. Put one of your favorite stuffed animals in it to keep daddy company. It'll make him feel close to you. Ask mommy to help you bake daddy his favorite cookie or treat.
