ClearChannel ruined everything!
As I mentioned in my last rant (about Microsoft), there are currently a very few companies controlling virtually everything that a typical American will see in a typical day.  Or, in this case, see and hear.

The company I am talking about is ClearChannel Communications.  You probably don't think about them much.  You may not even have heard of them.  But you've probably experienced them.

ClearChannel hasn't been huge since it's inception.  In 1996, the government changed the maximum number of radio stations that one company could own in the US from forty to...oh, wait, they didn't put an upper limit on it.  ClearChannel can buy as many radio stations as they want!

And in the last eight years, they have.  ClearChannel now owns well over 1000 radio stations, located in 300 cities.  They dominate the airwaves in 100 of the 112 biggest markets in the country.

And they decide what you listen to.  If they don't like it....If they decide it's un-American....If they don't think it'll be popular....it doesn't play.

Think that's bad?  Wait until you hear what
else these guys own.

Stadiums

Billboards

A concert promotion business

...and probably about half a dozen U.S. Senators to boot.
