Million Dollar Crash
Lighting rig injures three
(As reported in Rolling Stone Magazine)
Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera's Justified and Stripped Tour literally crashed on Saturday, August 9th, when a lighting rig collapsed at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, causing more than an estimated $1 million in damages. The seventy-five-year-old venue had just undergone a $90 million renovation so that it could accomodate more elaborate productions. But the 100-by-100-foot grid, suspended from a false ceiling, gave way as it was being raised for sound check. Three stagehands were injured, including one person who was working on the rig when it fell. "It didn't come pummeling to the ground, it kind of slowly turned into a taco," Timberlake said afterward. "The rigger just rode it down." If the rig had collapsed during the show, the performers would have been in serious jeopardy. "Some higher power took care of us," said Timberlake.
The result of the falling rig...
...luckily no one was seriously hurt!

(As reported on dotmusic.com)
The Justin Timberlake/Christina Aguilera US roadshow has ground to a halt after a stage accident.
The joint 'Justified and Stripped Tour' has been temporarily postponed ahead of a show in Atlantic City at the weekend.
Prior to the Boardwalk Hall date on Saturday (August 9), a stage rig including sound, light and video equipment fell to the floor causing over $1 million of damage.
"It's undetermined at this time when the tour will resume," said a statement issued by Timberlake's record label Jive.
"All attempts are being made to finish the tour and revisit postponed dates. Ticket holders for the postponed show are encouraged to hold onto their tickets, as they will be honoured in the future."
Reports from the city say no one was seriously injured in the incident although two people were treated at the Atlantic City Medical Centre for cuts and bruises.
