God bless you Wally Koz. Wally is the genius who brought us 555. Well,Wally and what looks like most of the Koz family, judging by the credits.I had wanted to see this ever since I was a wee tot reading Gorezone or Toxic Horror or some other horror mag and saw a pic of a very realistic looking decapitation. The same pic you see on the cover above. Through the modern miracle that is Ebay I finally got my hands on a copy.
Every five years a madman kills a young couple every night for five nights then disappears until it's time for the cycle to repeat. Two hard boiled policeman and an intrepid female reporter are determined to stop the killer. One of the cops is great. He is supposed to be some kinda hard ass and breaks down every ten minutes or so and starts screaming and wanting to kill somebody. The only problem is he is a spindly little bald fucker who looks like he would have trouble lifting a gun, much less shooting someone.The female reporter was obviously written as some kinda sexpot but old Wally used a middle aged woman who looks more like a soccer mom than a sex machine.
There is some nice gore in the movie. A lot of it is in the style of a woman laying on her back screaming while somebody slings Karo syrup on her. But there are also some pretty brutal knifings here and there and the aforementioned decapitation.The acting is bad, the soundtrack sounds like it was done on an old Casio keyboard, and the sets are about as barren as possible. Having said all that I want to add that there is more than enough nudity and general butchery to keep any gorehound happy. Check out the cover scan. If it makes you want to see the movie, you are probably the kind of person who will like it. Ahhh,stupid people getting naked and dying in horrible ways. Makes me miss the good old days.-Badfish |
