Happy Hell Night
Directed by-Brian Owens
Starring-Darrin McGavin and a lot of people you have never heard of.

Would you believe a Canadian/Yugoslavian horror movie? That's what we have on our hands with Happy Hell Night. I picked this up because the tape was put out by Quest Entertainment, the fine folks who brought us THE definitive psychotic chicken man movie Luther the Geek.

Twenty-five years ago on Hell Night a frat boy did a real stupid thing and not only managed to set a zombie priest booger  loose into the world but he managed to get most of his friends killed in the process. The frat boy enlisted the aid of the local non-zombie  priest and together they looked the booger away in an asylum where he sits in modern times gathering cobwebs and generally giving the staff the willies. The frat boy gets old and turns into Darren McGavin and has a couple of sons who, you guessed it, join dear old Dad's fraternity and hey, you guessed it again, the end up setting the booger loose to kill again on Hell Night. There is a subplot involving a love triangle with the brothers but who needs to hear about that shit?

I actually liked this better than I thought I would...once the first thirty minutes or so was over with anyway. The booger priest is pretty creepy but would have been a lot creepier if he laid off the stupid ass one liners. It's pretty cheesy and has some nice gore to liven things up. There are some weird tricks done with the camera and soundtrack  as well as a few nice touches scattered throughout the movie. The booger sitting in his cell covered in cobwebs as well as a scene where a statue of Jesus comes to life and climbs down from the cross are both highlights. There are some pretty big plot holes and I could have done without the love triangle. There is a charecter in it who is an AV guy of some sort who seems to spend most of his time video taping people having sex. He is irritating to the point of being sickening. All in all it's a pretty yummy little hunk of  cheese.
