Grooming Equipment - A fine toothed metal comb is the most important tool for grooming - For removing matts a corser comb with wider teeth will make things easier - A slicker brush will help with removing dead hair but is not as affective as a comb. - Also a small grooming rake helps to remove dead hair. - Shampoo and Conditioner made for cats for the occasional bath when needed.
Regular Grooming - Most shorthaired cats only need a weekly grooming. - Longhaired cats especially persians need daily grooming or they will become very matted. Longhaired cats should be exposed to grooming at an early age. - Do not wait untill the fur becomes matted as this is painful for the cat and he will not enjoy being groomed.
Nails Only cut the very tip the clear part, to advoid bleeding and splintering. Always make sure your clipper are sharp and use special clippers made for the cat. |
