Birman is the sacred cat of Myanmar. Legend has it that a buramese temple was attacked and the high priests cat jumped on to his head after he was dead and was transformed into a birman.
The cat was procecuted in Europe during the renaissance period. This was possible because the new intrest all of a sudden in the norse love goddess Freya whose chariot was pulled by cats.
