Betsy Singh-Anand, RN BA
A native of Ohio, the  Buckeye state,  Betsy has had a life long interest in the health sciences.

"By about the third or fourth grade I had read all of the health books in the children's section of our small public library. I still vividly remember the day when the librarian sent me home to get a note from my parents for permission to check out a book; I had slipped into the 'grown-up' stacks and was attempting to check out a volume she feared had a bit too many birds and bees."

After
high school graduation, Betsy attended Kent State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. During her years at KSU, she worked for the campus ambulance service as an Emergency Medical Technician.

Upon completion of her undergraduate studies, Betsy attended and subsequently graduated with honors from
Akron City Hospital's Idabelle Firestone School of Nursing in Akron, Ohio (now closed). It was during nursing school that she became interested in what was then a relatively new concept -- holistic health care. Rather than viewing a patient as merely a specific disease or malfunctioning organ, holistic care seeks to treat each person as a fully integrated whole that includes mind, body, and spirit. It was then that she also became interested in alternative medicine, and especially in the healing qualities of gemstones and in therapeutic touch techniques. Betsy was first attuned to reiki healing in 2000, receiving her Master/Teacher attunement in 2003.

Now with some 16 years of nursing experience, Betsy is currently employed by
Mercy Business Health Services in Sioux City, Iowa. On contract through Mercy with the Woodbury County Sheriff's Department, she is one of three RN's in the jail division.

An August 2004 graduate of the
Bio-Chi Institute, Betsy is awaiting licensure to practice therapeutic massage in the State of Iowa. She plans to open a private practice in the spring of 2005.
