More Than This
for my miko
She drew an image:
a girl,
pencilled
deft scribbles
across loose sheafs.
Dark lead
buckled
under her hand:
a mirage
in making.
Her model,
flattered
granting
what she could not refuse.
Color spreak later:
illusions
taking form
along black lines.
Pale outlines
of cloth, skin;
angelic gold hair,
dark pouting lips,
sleepless eyes,
given life anew
far from
the model's abyss.
The ideal denied itself.
She picked
the darkest crayon
to revoke innocence
untrue.
And she drew
a black halo
on her angel's gaze,
the dark aura
gifting truth.
